he'd been wandering the shoreline when a decently sized grey blob of something caught his attention. seeing as how curiosity flowed through his bloodstream, he thought it only right that he go check out whatever creature had washed ashore.

he quickly changed his mind however when he caught a whiff of whatever lay belly up on the beach. it was certainly dead, or at least smelled like it, and looked as if it were some sort of alien sent from the underworld to take over their minds and control them. he got just close enough to swat at it before he jumped back a few paces, fully expecting the creature to pop up and chase after him.

Huā strolled leisurely down to the beach with elegance, delicate paws leaving a trail of little footprints in the sand. Ahead she caught sight of Asta- who swatted at something she could not make out before leaping away. Worried, she scampered down to him without haste- though came to a halt when she saw the odd object that laid perfectly still in the sand. It was a strange creature; one even she had not seen in her years of seafaring. She raised a brow at it as if it would explain its existence, though its scent told her it would not be moving again. And then her eyes found Astaroth, inquisitively tilting her head with intrigue as if he would have the answer.

he was soon joined by hua and was instantly reminded of their first encounter together. a smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he went over the memory of their eventful time with the jellyfish. why did fate seem to enjoy mushing them and dead sea creatures together?

"think i can eat it?", he asked with a teasing smile as he recalled the last time they had ended up in a situation like this. unlike the jellyfish though, this creature neither looked nor smelled appetizing, and so he found himself less interested in what the crab looking beast might taste like.

At his question, she laughed aloud, tail wagging with her amusement. Probably not, unless you want your mouth taste very terrible, The siren teased, also reminded of their first meeting. A playful glance was paid to him, and then she darted forward to bat at the corpse too. It was fairly light, she realized her paw came into contact. And yet despite its lack of weight it had a stiffness to its shell. I wonder how it move when it alive. Like if it crawl... She pondered, imagining what it might've looked like under the sea, shuffling among the sands like an aquatic spider. The legs stuffed underneath it did not register as legs to her; they looked so strange and different from her own that she was entirely unsure how to understand its anatomy.

In finding that it was completely dead, she carefully batted the thing at the edge so it would flip over, to view the other side. The other side was... well, less interesting in a way. Its back was fairly smooth despite the sand that clung to places. However, its badass spikes looked exciting, and she prodded one with a paw, backing up when she found it was (shockingly!!) sharp.

he'd learned his lesson the hard way, and this time chose to trust her judgment rather than question it. still, he was curious as to what it might taste like and so would keep his eye out for a living one to try should another ever wash ashore.

her thoughts were interesting, and he found himself wondering how the creature moved about as well. however it was only after she flipped the beast over and gave a swat at it's spikes did a specific sea dweller pop up in his mind. "it's a turtle?" i mean, it certainly had the hard shell to be one.

TURTLE?!?!?

Huā laughed aloud, head thrown back before she turned glimmering gaze back to Astaroth. I doubt it. Where is it head? Or leg? She questioned, smirk still glued to her face. Of course there were turtles that sucked into their shell, but... well, it was worth investigating. No longer was she afraid to touch it lest it move, only delicate around the spikes- and so she leaned it onto one end, standing up vertically. It was not easy, because it was quite thin. She could not locate any hole at the top where a little head belonged... See? She pointed out as she tilted it slightly towards Astaroth, showing him the lack of hole... before she lost control of its balance and the object fell back to the sands with a gentle thump.
