All Welcome
This is open to anyone she hasn't officially met yet: @Dægmar @Pheiros @Brouhaha @Dagfinn ... Or someone outside Legion, if we want to place this near the borders. :)

She'd dreamed of Artemis again. The goddess had shown her how to hunt for mice. Haunt had privately scoffed at such small, easy prey—she hardly needed a lesson to capture rodents—but she'd gone along with it. She'd even learned something new. Afterward, while they'd shared their small but satisfying repast, Artemis had explained they would have to work their way up to larger prey. She would show Haunt everything she knew and she expected the arktoi to put her lessons to use in the waking world in order to pay her homage.

Wide awake now, Haunt carried a freshly killed mouse toward a small clearing and set it down on the cold, dry grass. She then began looking around for sticks. Not really understanding what she was doing or why, Haunt carefully placed the sticks around the tiny corpse. Then she got a wild hair and sought out something a little prettier to add to the small display. She snatched a blue jay's feather out of a thicket and placed it over the tiny, stiff mouse. Then she left.

Hours later, she returned to the site to find the mouse gone. There was no blood and the sticks were untouched. And the feather was—changed! She blinked rapidly at the larger, reddish brown feather. Haunt sniffed around curiously but couldn't detect any scents, canine or otherwise. Her ears fell backward uncertainly, not entirely sure what to make of any of this.

Dantalion was but a lone devil fishing for some information. She already had been near around two packs in particular, one by the cliff, and another by the mountain. Obviously so, the scents were so strong near the areas it wasn't hard to locate even more around the land. Curiously enough, there was days the wolf awaited to see if any would come out to amuse her so-

but her luck was never that good.

Closer did she go, Dantalion saw but a smaller, white figure in the distance. Though too near inside, the hearth-colored wolf only stayed afar, not daring to inch closer. They were not foolish enough to play that game, "Hello there!" The devil called out, friendly and by a slick smile to their features.

Thanks for nabbing! :)

Eventually, she backed away from the site of her offering, skulking toward the borders with no particular purpose in mind. She didn't even attempt to pick up any scent trails, her attention turned inward as she pondered her dreams about Artemis and what it all really meant. Haunt was not so preoccupied that she didn't notice a stranger lurking nearby, so near, in fact, Legion's guardians would surely be displeased.

But she didn't count herself among them. Though she was no social butterfly either, Haunt moved toward the stranger, whose pelt reminded her of the feather left behind with her sticks. She licked her chops a little apprehensively, keeping her yellow eyes pinned on the unfamiliar she-wolf as she approached. Perhaps it was her right to show dominance, though Haunt lowered her head instead, the skin at the nape of her neck tugging uncomfortably where it was still mending.

Rather than return the greeting, Haunt warily demanded, "Who are you?"

He had followed the scent of Arbiter's daughter towards the borders, hoping to find her still inside the territory, especially after what had happened the last time she left. And if he found that she had gone exploring again, then he would just have to go out looking for her. If anything, he felt protective over Arbiter's children since she had always been like family to him.

To his horror, her scent eventually mixed with the scent of a stranger, and he picked up speed, afraid of what he might find at the borders. When he arrived he took note of the situation—Haunt seemed tense, and the stranger seemed fairly calm, so he figured things hadn't escalated too much yet.

Pheiros stopped next to his young packmate, stepping forward just a little to try and block her from the stranger a little. Whatever was going on, he still wasn't sure he should trust some random wolf at the borders. This is Legion, he told her first. Do you need something? He always found this part of border patrol so awkward. His chest tightened at just the thought of having to question the strangers he found too close. For some reason, he could never come up with anything more diplomatic than do you need something.

"I'm a traveler, unfamiliar to the area." Her pose of neutrality, and tail low, she so sat in dignity and nobility, while a warmth smile placed upon her face. A devils look and desire as she talked to the white ghost of the creek, and so hummed in curiosity. Especially, as a golden guard came to be, claiming the land as 'Legion,'

"Oh pardon me, I mean no harm," Dantalion dipped her head low in politeness as a smile widened, "I'm just but curious fellow to the neighborhood packs." She made sure she was not directly in the territory, just teetering on their border.

Before the interloper could respond, another of Legion's ranks joined them. Haunt initially resisted the urge to glance at her pack mate, instead identifying him by scent. Then he spoke and she reluctantly tore her gaze away from the stranger, mildly intrigued by his tone. There was something off about it but she was not socially intuitive enough to put her finger on it.

Her yellow eyes swung back to the she-wolf as she answered to the pair. Her manner was politely neutral, bordering on cordial. She said she was a traveler checking out the area, trying to learn about the local packs. Not only did the youth not have anything to offer in this department, she figured Pheiros had it handled, despite the peculiar note in his voice.

She had better things to do than talk business with total strangers, so Haunt said primarily to the Evocatus, "I can get my mother, if you like." She scarcely waited for acknowledgement before turning and slipping away into the bypass.

She could alert Arbiter to the guest on the borders, if and when she came across the woman. But rather than seek out the Legate or call for her, Haunt instead returned to the place where she'd attempted to commune with Artemis to sit and stare at the feather.

She was curious about the nearby packs—it seemed innocent enough, and she wasn't giving off anything that said she had ill-intentions so far. She had also maintained a respectful distance from the borders, which made him relax just a little.

When Haunt spoke, he looked down at her with a slight frown. He actually didn't want her to leave, and might have said so had she not promptly turned and started walking away. Oh, uh, yeah, sure, he said to her back as she left. It was probably for the best anyway; it wasn't really the safest thing for her to be here with a stranger now that he thought about it. @Arbiter would be a much better option.

Hoping she would join them soon, Pheiros looked back to the stranger, feeling a little nervous now that he was the sole object of her focus. Um, what packs have you come across so far? he asked. Maybe he could tell her about them.

Well, she wasn't a real devil after all, not all plans can come to a satisfactory turn, but Dantalion suppose there would be some sort of use toward a leader's summoning. She only smiled as the younger ghost mentioned of her dearest mother- which was easily deducted to be some sort of Alpha of them all. The other willingly agreed.

"There are two packs by the coast." She said with a slight hum, willingly exchanging as so, since they have given the name 'Legion.' Though she simply waltz'd around the own names, only giving but a location.

No the real devil here wore white. She'd been patrolling and coming from the opposite direction. She saw Pheiros and a stranger. As she got closer, she smelled Haunt's trail too -- but heading inland. Hm. Well, at least she didn't have to worry about her right now.

If she hadn't scented her daughter, Arbiter would have opted for the classic 'say nothing, just look between everyone and thus demand an answer' but because she did kind of wonder why her daughter had been here, and thus, impatience. What's going on? A flicking glance between the two, stopping on the stranger, the one who was less trustworthy just by their existence.
Arbiter is often not a nice person and will think mean things without acting on them.

Two packs on the coast—that wasn't a whole lot of information, he thought. And there were no names offered either. He was about to ask more questions about these packs, but then Arbiter's scent filled his nose. He paused, mouth open like he was about to say something, and looked over at her approaching form. Relief filled his chest as she came to stand beside him.

She, of course, asked what was going on here. He assumed she had run into her daughter at that's why she was here, and she was probably not super happy about Haunt being so close to the borders. He didn't make her wait very long for an answer, though. I found Haunt here, talking to this woman, he explained. She left, though, and said she was going to find you. He looked between his leader and the stranger for a moment before settling his eyes on Arbiter's chin. She is learning about packs in the area, said she discovered two on the coast. She had all the information that he had now, so he looked back to the stranger and waited to see if she had anything to add.

We can probably just wrap this since Dantallion is inactive? Archive now or after your post!

Perhaps it was Arbiter herself that was too threatening here -- her ominous figure maybe casting enough of a dark shadow to make the wolf change their mind and leave without too much fanfare. So instead she talked to Pheiros, The coast is a long way from here. It seems odd she came this far, but I guess some just tend to wander. She shrugged there, moving on to a slightly different subject. I didn't run into Haunt, but thank you for making sure she wasn't here alone. I'll talk to her about it later. You can join me on patrol if you'd like? I have a ways farther to go. Pheiros was a good wolf, she was glad he was in the pack, even if he wasn't exactly the template for her ideal sort of packmate. He made up for what he might lack, in her eyes, in other ways.  Whether he joined her or not, she would in the end finish her patrol for the day.
