She wouldn't be gone long—she never was—but Ty left Waxwing and Silktail safe in the confines of the den. They were rapidly growing, their eyes now beginning to peel open and taking their first wobbly few steps. She was overjoyed with how they reacted to each little thing. Silktail was the noisier of the two, while Waxwing was quietly impatient in all things, willing to use what little brawn he had to get what he wanted.

Her short trek took her only a few minutes away to a small stream so she could grab a drink of water. She assumed @Aditya was around nearby, though his presence felt fleeting and fragile. Tytonidae found that she enjoyed the time they spent together, but his words had been clear: he had done this before and left his former families behind. She reminded herself that she was prepared to do this alone if she needed to, and so she did not always check to make sure he was there when she left the den.

She slurped up the water as quickly as she could, knowing time was in limited supply. It would only take a moment for a predator to discover and ruin the two small lives she had created.

bartholomew had, unceremoniously, come to the conclusion that his life was void of direction.

all of his attempts to cling to his religion mattered little when those he shared it with seemed to depart or leave shortly after anyway.

andrés was nowhere to be found.

rhaenyra had fled in a frenzy beyond him.

abraham, his own son, had vanished without a word.

now it felt like a slap in the face, to come here and see another familiar figure. although there were...new features about her that made him feel unwell. his face remained neutral. her scent that of babes and milk and —

he didn't even have a name for her.

you look well, he started with. slow and cautious. perhaps she might resent him the way he resented himself.

You look well. A familiar, yet not that familiar voice. It took Ty half a second to remember where she knew him. Goldie, she muttered under her breath. She’s never gotten his name, but she also thought she hadn’t needed it. The same went for Aditya. A panicked thought of “oh shit” went through her head when she realized it was possible neither of the men would be pleased with each other.

Thank you, she said, regaining her composure. She had to be strong for the children, after all. For a moment, she debated trying to keep them a secret, but it would be of little use unless Goldie had completely lost his sense of smell.

There are two: Waxwing, a boy, and Silktail, a girl. Ty paused, letting that soak in before she dropped the doozy of Aditya being an additional complication.

goldie.

he laughed, warm and soft. he did not feel very golden these days. even as the summer sun dared to lighten his fur with little highlights and his eyes remained as yellow as ever.

two, she spoke of.

beautiful names. his claws clutched at the rich earth beneath his paws. are they...here?

did she even want him here?
