Her cubs were not yet fully weaned, but they were beginning to be. Now other than just milk, at thirty-nine days they also would eat the slurry she, Mountain Boulder, and others might provide for them. Soon enough New Snow would become dry, and all they would enjoy would be such a meal until they could eat independent of their elders. With their bothersome milk teeth, New Snow looked forward to the day. But she was an incredibly patient mother who had little trouble with her first litter beyond what was to be expected of one with their firsts.

One month now, New Snow could scarcely recall them as they had first been. Now they had faces easily distinguished by those who knew them. Thursday Evening was a large, rotund boy... and although Thursdays Dawn was leaner, she was certainly not scrawny. With the sun out, New Snow darted around the perimeter to ensure all was well before summoning her cubs to her with happy whuffs.

if this is not aw lmk!

ancelin sulked about.
he had never seen fit the approach the densite of the youngest cubs. but curiosity won out today. he had been learning from @Masquerade; now the boy drifted forward in emulation of his cousin, slipping as quietly as he could through the undergrowth.
the white wolf was there. ancelin watched her interestedly to see what might happen.

it's open!
It was @Thursday's Dawn that emerged first, this time! The Clawan's tail waved in encouragement. The girl was soon at her side. New Snow then moved once more toward the perimeter, this time to sweep it with her daughter. They were not yet near where the young Ancelin lurked, and the distracted mother was then none-the-wiser.

New Snow demonstrated for her daughter. She paused, sniffing at the edges. The scent of her father coming and going would be the most obvious of scents. The new mother waited to see if her daughter would do the same, one ear turning backward to listen in on their surroundings.

mother and daughter emerged. ancelin crouched down but curiosity pulled him forward.
one step. then another.
he watched the white wolf inspect her surroundings.
and then a twig cracked under his foot, and fear filled his belly; he threw himself down, hoping not to be spotted even now.

A noise.

And New Snow made another one, which caused Thursdays Dawn to quickly run and dive into the whelping den. New Snow marched toward the sound with the air of a disgruntled elephant, feet heavy against the earth as she growled, each noise she made a warning. Her long legs were quick to carry her toward the young boy.

Once she saw him, the wrath on her features melted away.

New Snow loosed a yawn, emoting to him that to him, she would do no harm. Another curious cub. This one did not know how to stalk, it seemed.

She did not move nearer to him. For now, she only watched, wondering what he would do now that he had been spotted. Her tail swayed some behind her to reveal she had no wrath in her for his actions. He was a child, and his observing was no true offense. Had he been a predator, though, things would have ended in another manner.

he rolled to his side, then whined placatingly as he flashed his belly toward the mate of the huge man. she did not seem angered by him and this was good, but ancelin wanted to make sure before he rose.
eventually he swiped his tongue toward her muzzle and whined again, a longer note. can i see them? they were younger than he, the boy knew, and tucked away.
but they were going to be cousins, and he'd already decided this.

New Snow watched the boy, mollified by his behavior. Her tail wave, placated by his submissive licks. She liked the young one all the more. Observing him, her eyes lingered upon his. A unique shade of violet, like the flowers she had seen in passing during the Summer months on her way to these lands.

He was sweet, as those flowers smelled. And so he became Sweet Boy to her.

His long whine she understood well enough, and she snorted in turn. No further than this. He could not meet them this day. Instinct advised her to keep them away in so intimate a fashion. But she reclined onto her haunches, and settled onto her stomach.

New Snow had already accepted this young one as family, and would permit him to at least observe from here.

the boy listened and obeyed. in many ways, the non-verbal densite was a relief for him. everyone mostly talked, except augur and his mate. she was pretty, like a cloud. he thought she was summery, because he had only known two seasons, three as fall crept in.
summer said he couldn't go further. he sat down too, licking his jaws and looking past her eagerly for any glimpse of the younger pups.
