He's had a difficult time staying out for long since summer started. The sun is bright, and the heat affects the fragile boy more than he likes to let on. Outside isn't that great anyway, he's decided. Outside = scary shit. So he's more than happy to stay in the den —
Except when his siblings aren't there. Lainie's absence nags at him, only a little at first — but eventually the feeling becomes overwhelming. He drags himself to his feet with a huff, marching out of the den to find her right as she starts to head back. The heat immediately makes him a little dizzy, though the difference isn't terribly dramatic. LAINIE! His own volume startles him; he still hasn't quite figured out how to control his voice, and he hates loud noises. So, naturally, he freezes in place and begins to cry.
