Over the next few days, it would be a little painful to eat and drink, but Sialuk would overcome. There was no doubt that her mother would whip up some special edible to ease the pain as much as she could. The strange sensation of scar tissue on her tongue would remind her of this day for years and years to come, although she would never hold it against her brother. Perhaps if he had done the deed intentionally or mocked her for it, but he had done neither of those things, and she was grateful for his presence.
