Lion Head Mesa Hell's teeth & scorned woman. You're all damned

For more than a week she had fought for her life. Between fevers and phantom pains she was a mess. But today she awoke clear headed and cool. There was no clamminess to her skin cast. Her eye was not foggy with horror she was remembering. The singular sea green eye took in the plush surroundings. 

And for the first time in a long time she wanted her siblings. She wanted to curl up with @Tiye and let her take care of her, she wanted to hold the paws of @Kiyya and @Kheti and she wanted her dad @Khusobek, but more than that she wanted to see the world with two eyes. She wanted @Machiavelli beside her to give her the gentle smile he reserved for her, that small light of pride in his eyes. But. She couldn't have that. She had flown too close to the sun and the price was high.

She slowly pushed herself to her feet. Her limbs aching. Every step making some new pain come to the forefront. She had to move her head side to side at first. On the left side she tumbled and hit a lot of things. Each bite of something foreign making her grit her teeth. She needed to learn to go through the world with one eye. 

It was not graceful or demure the way she walked and she left chaos in her wake. But her determination won her a prize. And she stood at a corner where she could look out. To make sure the world was still intact when she was not. And slowly her legs folded under her and she sank to her belly on cold tile floors. Having spent her energy yet again.

fiya! forgetting her duties as fellahin tiye's shout rings through the imposing walls of the red palace as she makes a mad dash for safiya's holding room. she didn't waste a minute to gaze in awe that the ceilings had gotten just a bit closer since she'd last been here. none of that mattered.

she choked at the grizzly sight. it was only a month, if even, and her sister had been mauled. guilt stings her eyes. if only she'd been kinder to the sister who only ever sought to love.

A shout rang out. One that was both welcome and also stung. Safiya turned her head towards the door. Singular eye seeking. She tried to hide the empty one. Tiye didn't like ugly things.

Fiya felt hot wetness in her singular eye. And a sniffle turned into a trickle and she surged to her feet. Limping she threw herself into her sister.

tiye pressed her head against safiya's fur, giving her gentle comforting licks to her crown. it'll be okay. she sputters through choked throat.
vague memories guided her through a lullaby sung once by their mother, her paws gliding through the rich dusty reds of fiya. whoever dared to take away fiya's happiness would pay. that includes herself.
