Near the border of Swiftcurrent Creek

A drizzle starts, and that’s when Aurin urges their plan to steal food into motion.

Nose wrinkles, Boreas glances at their brother—trusting yet cautious. Wolves aren’t really to be messed with, right? That’s what their folks always told ‘em. It’s better to avoid their territory than go strolling right in.

Aurin, Boreas says, trotting up towards their larger sibling. Ain’t this… risky? It’s rare when Boreas ever questions their sibling’s decisions, so Aurin turns sharply, snapping teeth in their direction; “Just shut up and follow my lead. It’ll work.”

‘lright, if ya say so. Boreas is far from convinced, but they trust Aurin. Calling him stupid comes to mind for a split second, yet the red fox shoves it out of their mind.

He knows he shouldn't be wandering this far, but... he just wants to be alone. As much as he loves his family, their constant presence has frustrated the boy more often lately. The borders offer some reprieve, at least. He's exploring idly with his nose pressed to the ground when he hears something odd, one over-sized ear flicking back as he lifts his head to glance around. At first, he doesn't see anything.
But then the strangest wolves appear. Except — not wolves. They don't smell like wolves, and they're much smaller, but he's never seen anything so similar to a wolf that isn't... a wolf. Both his ears perk instantly, head tilting to one side and then the other for several seconds as he tries to figure out what exactly he's looking at. Unfortunately, the head tilting doesn't really work, and he's left just as puzzled as before — but a bit dizzy now, too.
