Dragomir wasn't prepared at all for the sudden movement. He flinched instinctively, but it did nothing to save him from the sharp impact of his body against the sturdy trunk of a tree. He felt a crack in his limber body and an explosion of fire that could only be one or more of his ribs breaking and his lips parted in a shrill scream. What was happening? Why was Sanguinus doing this? The world was awash in bright white as pain rippled through him and soon the scream died in his throat. Shock was quick to set in, quicker even than his assailant; Dragomir's eyes were clouded with it when Sanguinus slammed him into the trunk again, and this time his skull hit the bark with a thwack and he slumped to the ground, unconscious.
