All Welcome
Laurel had even less attention for them as usual. It seemed that she would either smother them, or cut them loose entirely, and honestly, Charles wasn't too sure which one he preferred. He just wished his brothers would chill the fuck out and cut him some slack when they played, and maybe he wished that he didn't have brothers at all. Times had been tough and Charles had become eerily skeletal in his build from the lack of food, but it was the only life that he knew of. Always a struggle. Always a pain. And most of all, never what he wanted it to be.

Meanwhile the world just got colder and colder. Laurel told him 'don't go outside', 'stay here and be warm', but lately not so much anymore. Lately it was as if she just stopped caring. Well, whatev, I don't need anyone, Charles told himself out loud as he walked into the field outside of Easthollow with a frown on his face. And then the frown disappeared and he smiled, broadly, happy. Yeah. He wouldn't let that hag spoil his fun.

The lone she-wolf wandered the snowy meadow with her nose perpetually twitching just above the surface. She had not eaten in far too long, her last meal a skinny rabbit with so little meat that she had fairly just eaten the entire thing. Today she scented no rabbits, but the faint smell of rodents kept her moving forward.

It was no more than an hour before she came upon a canine much younger than herself, a pup approaching adolescence. She lifted her narrow head and regarded him with curious blue eyes, immediately noticing that like all the creatures here, he looked hungry. Her heart hurt for him. Far too young to be facing a famine such as this. His youth should be filled with bountiful food and happiness... Not this wretched curse that nature had cast upon them all.

She chuffed softly, lowering her ears and wagging her tail slowly, to alert him of her presence in case he had not yet taken notice.

thank you for joining! :D

Too distracted in his thoughts for his mother -- or rather, trying not to think of her as much he could -- Charles didn't notice someone else at first at all. Only when she chuffed to announce her presence he realised she was there at all, and he stiffened visibly at first. Then he played it cool, as if he never startled at all, when he realised that it was just a non-threatening female.

She had a pretty colour, but Charles wasn't going to let her notice that she seemed pretty cool. He off-handedly called to her, What do you want? Because playing it cool seemed the best way to go about meeting someone new. He didn't want her to think he was desperate or whatever.
