Limit Two

As days go out and winter comes, the claim was to be solidified. Though any that came, Umbra had chased out, including a child who shown no desire to give respect, and only a place to stay. She did not want any slackers within the clan, and turned him away when he continued to mouth off. Then there was others, like the white man by the sea lion shore, another white man coming into the bay for a 'view,' and a gray man by the rocks. All simply chased away, by Umbra.

Perhaps numbers would not be too well, but she thought of another; allies.

Yuelong was upon the list, and with so Hua gave the names of two others.. Neverwinter, and Moonspear. As days went by and Wintersbane return, she thought about it so and sought him out. Whether he wanted to go with her or not, was up to him, but the Sealord was determined to ask a hand in an ally ship with these two grand packs.

slight pp of umbra finding wbane since she was actively searching for him in your post. if you want me to change anything just give me a poke!

his return did not appear to upset whatever balance umbra has managed to struck in his absence and the saltlord takes to the responsibilities of old with his usual perseverance, except minus the desire to recruit. still, it strikes him as something that lay upon umbra's shoulders as she saw fit to make the changes that she has. perhaps at it's core, stormborn is his ironclan but even aesthetic changes are enough to make it feel like it's not entirely his own.

he's spent better part of the morning combing the beach, shifting thru jetsam and flotsam that washed upon the foamy breaches of the hightide: tangles of seaweed, and flopping fish unfortunate to be snared in it's knots. he made a quick breakfast of a few such fish before working thru shifting aside pieces of driftwood and seaweed, stretching them out on the higher sand dunes where the tide could not reclaim them for drying.

if nothing else, seaweed was useful for helping to allow meats to keep longer and offered a salty snack to munch on to curb stirrings of hunger. umbra's footfalls are swallowed by the sand and crash of the lowtide but he catches sight of her approach all the same and turns to face her as he lays the last of his haul out to dry. seaweed's useful for the caches. he informs, despite that she hasn't asked.

"Is it?" She had lived by the sea for a long time, her life of nordic warriors and battles to the extreme.. She doesn't remember moments where they paid attention to what they ate or cared where it went, they focused on defense and offense, anything other than warrior was mocked. Umbra had a sense of agreement though be raised to the same, finding many of the 'trades' being useless in the end.. She supposed though, the best was the medic, even then her old stormy home held almost none. Many died by wounds.

The use of seaweed was thought to be useless besides slapping onto wounds to stop the blood. The science of that sea-faring pack was severely lacking.

"In a few days I may leave to form an alliance. The Empress at the isle told me of two; Moonspear and Neverwinter." She had a shake her mind out of the waters, being too focused on what could seaweed be even used for. She had hunted him down for a specific reason, and explain her thoughts onto the matter.

The Sealord did not want to simply disappear without a warning,

"I do not know if you want to come with."

the salt preserves the meat, at least for a little while. though wintersbane could not pinpoint exactly where he collected that tidbit of information. that was the benefit to being worldly, to having travelled with and ran with many different packs in his lifetime. he picked up random bits of useful information. at the mention of further alliances, wintersbane's ears perk as he steps carefully 'round his arrangement. i don't know much about neverwinter, that was to say nothing in truth. but i am good standing with the queen of moonspear, hydra. if she still ruled at it's helm, but lest circumstances were dire, wintersbane couldn't see her relinquishing that anytime soon.

our acquaintance has been long, that went back to when he was but a cub. i could speak with moonspear, while you spoke with neverwinter's leaders? i would just have to know what we're willing to offer them in exchange for an alliance. a pause is given. or we could visit both, together.

She would remember that factor.

"Splitting would do fine; i'm not familiar with any besides Yuelong." While she would like to personally know that of the Moonspear wolves, Umbra knew well of her despotion. She wasn't the friendliest wolf, and had a streak of chasing others off.. Little did she know as well it seemed to that she held suspicions against, had also left their rankings, making winter even more difficult.

Nontheless, time shall tell.

"The best we can offer is the call for war I would say. For their time of need, more numbers. Neutrality upon hunting grounds." As she had already gone hostile to a few within the grounds, if their scents were known she could be more at ease who is around. Many wolves tend to send scouts, and soon Stormbound would scout as well for the allies.

"I'll take Neverwinter then."

she concurs to the splitting up plan, and in this wintersbane is grateful. though he has no issue with trying to strike a tentative alliance with packs he didn't know, there was a pull to hydra and moonspear that he feels inclined to follow; seeking familiarity like a homing missile. she says that the best they can offer is to answer a call to war and wintersbane contemplates that. it wasn't much. to some, is was hardly anything. it occurs to him that perhaps they should wait until they are official before trying to strike alliances ...it wasn't as if they needed any at this moment and he doubts that hydra would need their warriors ( if they had any beyond him and perhaps umbra ).

i'll try, it's not much but it's the very least he can promise her. i can't say hydra will accept it. he couldn't, for sure, say she wouldn't either; but he doesn't want umbra to feel absolute disappointment if he fails in his mission. it was always better, wintersbane feels, to prepare for the worst case scenario.

with that, he offers umbra a small nod of his head before heading off towards moonspear.
