Phox's mouth turned into an O when Meerkat mentioned marriage. That was a funny way of phrasing it. He realized that he hadn't heard anybody call it that since Camilla had been in his life (maysherestinpeace). There was a pause then, followed by not entirely unsurprising news, given her recent courtship. Phox felt a pang of sadness that he hadn't even met the guy who had given Meerkat children of her own. At least he had known Bronco, even if they hadn't seen each other in ages now.

The last pup's name wasn't lost on him, of course. Those are lovely names, he said. And, let's be real, he was happy to see their family tradition carried on to the next generation. He had to believe Vixen would look either like her great aunt Wildfire or perhaps she even looked like him!

He gave Caracal a sharp look when he asked to meet them, though obviously Phox had the same thought.
