lestan could not sleep, but he laid in their bed behind the wall he had so painstakingly built. at last, perhaps a couple of hours before first daylight, he rose.
when they had all come awake, he placed @Blossom into @Reverie's arms and set about wrapping all their furs into as tight a bundle as could be made. slinging this around his shoulders, he tucked the edges of the only pelt he had left out, a rabbitskin, around blossom's small shoulders.
the sky at this hour was still darkened. mists formed the place of clouds as the small mayfair family stepped from the large den that would have been theirs to keep. 
lestan saw no reason to tell even @Arric they had gone. their steps were not invisible, nor their trajectory. perhaps that man even shared akavir's opinion —! by the time the sun rose, they would be two hours away, his tracking mind suggested, and this comforted him if only a little.
no tears. no weeping. he looked back only once at their home before the valley of the rising sun yawned before them. after that, the wilderness, and then the sea, where he hoped desperately a new dawn could begin.
