All Welcome
BWP PHASE 2
TW: animal death
Violent shaking disrupts a quiet morning in the plateau. Water slowly leaks out of the confines of the lake, trees fall left and right. The inhabitants are frightened and make a run for it.

His place amongst this family was still uncertain. Once he was called ‘lover’, ‘husband’, ‘father’. Those titles were stripped away as soon as he left. It’s an unfortunate truth. Of course he wished to regain that standing in his dysfunctional family, but showing up again just wouldn’t be enough. He’d have to earn his name once more.

But how? What Issun had was crushed into a thousand pieces, scattered along the wind. It would take a lifetime to pick up those pieces and tape them back together. And in the end, the product would not be as it used to. But by god he would try. For the sake of his son.

The warriors soft murmurs and pondering were the only things that broke the morning’s silent. His movement is slow, he was practically dragging himself at this rate. It’s what happens when one is so lost in thought.

But something disrupted that dedicated concentration. A tremor. It was subtle at first. Issun ignored it, dismissing it as delusion. But the vibration soon turned into a shake, a violent one at that. Falling trees could be heard in the distance. The lake’s water poured out onto the earth. It was the stuff of nightmares.

Issun could barely react to all of this. The shaking combined with the moist dirt caused him to loose his footing. He could only lift his head and watch a few smaller mammals flee for their lives.

It had ended as soon as it began, leaving a messy scene behind. Issun lifted himself just enough so that his stomach was hovering over the earth. Where was his family during all this? Were they safe?

The warrior lifted his head to send out a call, but it was cut short. Something heavy slammed into the back of his neck, an indescribable pain soon followed. Again he was left with no time to think. Adrenaline courses through his veins. The only thing on his mind was to fight.

Issun rolled into the water, making sure to crush his attacker. It was forced to release its grip and Issun had already shot up and placed heavy paws on its jugular. The sick sound of drowning was muted by instinct. He had to kill whatever this thing was.

It wasn’t a struggle after a few moments of twisting and turning. The beast, a badger he would soon realize, had submitted to death. Issun stood over it, breathing heavily.

She had been nearby and patrolling the land sniffing for any signs of Takara and finding none. Her heart had dropped into her stomach just as the trembling started and she blinked, stunned and never having experienced such a thing. She heard the sound of prey running away and heard Issun's cut off howl which sent a jolt of ice cold panic into her veins. She ran toward him her eyes wide and panicked as she spotted Issun standing soaking wet over a dead badger, the scent of blood in the air making her lick her maw and approach concerned about both him and the quake. She lifted her muzzle and seconded the call for her boys and for Higoro, the call urgent as she looked at Issun "Are you okay? What was that rumbling?" she asked him her voice quiet with hidden fear.

An angered scream shakes the plateau, followed by the snapping of shrubbery.

Takara had disappeared, again, without warning. It left a wound much larger than it had last time. Surely, she would stay present in her son's life? Prove that she could be trusted as she had before? That's what he believed, and yet he was left alone, angry and confused. Before he had clung onto the hope she would show her face again, but that was crushed now. It was a foolish dream.

He spent that morning stomping around, tearing up anything that he could grab a hold of, letting out a frusturated screech every once in awhile. It was emotionally taxing and he eventually subcumbed to exhaustion. Orochi fell to the earth and silent sobs yanked his shoulders up and down.

Something unsual cut his breakdown short. Something frightening. Orochi only noticed it as he tried to stand up, only to be knocked down again.

It stopped a few moments later. Orochi immediately flew up and bolted forward. Could this day be any worse?

During his mad dash he managed to spot two figures in the corner of his eye. Of course their angered frenzy would draw an aggressive boy forward. Their battle was quite a sight. His tail whipped back and forth as he watched this man fling his attacker into the water and defeat it with pure strength. It was a skill he could only dream of having.

That face that towered over the dead creature was unforgettable. He had appeared briefly during his infancy and Orochi had watched him fight before. Once again the speckled male left the boy in awe.

This fleeting happiness was disrupted by an urgent call. Minori. The thought of her made his blood boil. As soon as he caught her running towards the bloodied warrior he ran in the other direction. He did not wish to even see her now.
