The little boy had barely started his weaning process from his mother when she suddenly disappeared. He was much too young to be on his own. He had wandered somewhat from his birth place but his little legs were unstable and he was quickly exhausted. His senses were new and not working to their full capacity yet either, and the very small one month old was in a lot of danger saying he was all on his own.

Little Ravin was scared. He didn't know much about the world but he knew he wasn't safe, he just didn't know what to do. So he sat down under a bush and hoped someone would help him. If they didn't, he would soon starve, being all on his own.

With Ancelin helping out along the borders, Suzu felt she could shirk her patrol for the day, and ended up trailing along the beach toward the South. It was the way she had travelled when fleeing the Cliffs, months ago, but now she looked upon the shining sands in a new light.

She was a natural scavenger, and river along the shoreline looking for easy food. She saw, in the distance, something that looked out of place- and slow-moving.

Birds circled overhead; ominous. Suzu hastened her step, wanting to grab the creature for herself before they could get to it, but once she saw the barely weaned pup lift its head, she sped up even more.

This wasn’t food- this was a child!

She looked around as she approached, wary of a protective parent though she could scent no others.

”Hello?” She called out, not speaking to the child, but above him. ”Hello? Anyone? Zut!” She said, when she realized the child was very much alone.

He would be a bit younger than Chiro and Chani she thought- much too young to be alone.

His odds in Sapphique weren’t bad- he wasn’t family, but he could become family easily enough. Out here, his odds were slim.

”Is OK, bébé,” she reassured as she came closer. ”It will all be alright,” She soothed- as she made to gently take him by the scruff.

Ravin kinda chirped when she called out, recognising the voice as that of a female wolf. he didn't care too much who it was. He just needed someone to trust. When she picked him up he didn't resist and just relaxed. "fanks." He said managing the small word his mom had taught him. "I... lowst. awone." He stammered out, barely having many words down. "Mama gowne."

The kid could talk. Suzu felt all the more ashamed of having looked at him like an easy snack- and dreaded what she might have done had she simply gone in for the kill. It was a blessing, then, that she could not run terribly fast; her sluggish pace had afforded her a better view of the lost child.

”Oh,” Bewildered, she blinked and considered what this meant. Was his mother truly gone? Was he really lost? She looked around again.

There was no one within sight.

She set him down, and licked the back of his neck where the fur had become wet with drool. She realized that she was still hungry- but that he must be even more famished than she.

”I will take you ‘ome wid me. We will go now; it is not safe out here.” She said, before reaching for him again. He didn’t seem to have any qualms with her taking him…If anything, he seemed appreciative.

He nodded, knowing the world was unsafe. He could sense that much. Thats why he had tried to hide. "Fanks." He said again. He didn't mind the back of his neck being wet, but he did appreciate her lick. It soothed him a little because frankly, he was just scared and confused.

Suzu paused again, nodding gently in acknowledgement of the lone child’s thanks. Carrying him as gently she could, she meandered along the seashore back toward Sapphique.

She had no idea how the lost child would be received- perhaps her mother would demand that she take him straight back to where she found him- but she couldn’t leave him in the beach, to be hounded by birds.

She thought of her brother, Requiem- carried away by an eagle. Now, she had become the one who picked up a child, and carried them away to a new home.

She could only hope he would be allowed, and that no bad luck would follow them.

He thought of one more thing to say. his name. "I be... I be Ravin." He told her. And then, being drowsy from his journey's and feeling safe in the girls grasp he let his eyes close, and fell asleep despite the fact his little body swung as Suzu walked.

cameo!

When the pups had been born, Svalinn could smell the blood and liquid of their birth. It had irritated him that such an event could take place here, when he knew none had settled here with him, but it wasn’t his place to be concerned by the new life and he knew better than to approach a lone female’s densite. So he had simply left them alone.

Occasionally, he would pass by, always annoyed to discover their presence remained, until one day, the mother’s trail no longer seemed fresh. He ventured towards the den only to discover the scent of a single child leaving its threshold. He followed it, expecting to find signs of a struggle where the child had been snatched up by some predator or another, but instead he came across the scent of a Sapphique wolf.

Lucky kid.

Svalinn followed the trail, only half an hour old, just to make sure they had made it back to the cliffs without interruption.
