Larksong Grotto as the sun sets

An ear cupped on his direction as he approached. Laurel wished that they would all just go away and leave her alone. She didn't want to be bothered. She hated everything and everyone. This guy didn't smell familiar. She didn't like wolves she didn't know. She hated this pack. Everyone would just leave her.

Her sides heaved with the exertion and as he asked his question, she snapped her head upwards and derisively snapped: "Of course I'm not alright, dumb-ass!" She frowned angrily at him, but as she looked up at him she saw suddenly that he was a boy her age, and she was taken aback, surprise overtaking the earlier anger showing on her face. She'd never met a boy her age. And his eyes were like beautiful oceans to drown in.
