King Elk Forest become the thing i hate

Laurel felt the urge to run away with every word that Spring said. She was so nice, but all the niceness was surely a façade. Everybody left in the end, and so Spring would too if Laurel were to let her in again.

The words sounded hollow and Laurel's head was swimming with thoughts and dizziness as she tried to process it all. She registered the last question, though, as well as Laika and Casmir being gone — the how, what and why's unimportant to her — and looked at Spring at the end of that question.

"I didn't know we were so close. I didn't know that this was the hinterlands." She blinked, trying to hide her confusion and weakness but aware that her answers betrayed her unknowingness. She just didn't know how to behave towards Spring now.
