Everything was so fallen apart, and Laurel had not been well. She ignored the call when it came at first, even though it rung a distant bell. A ghost from the past of sorts, a distant memory. But as she let it simmer in, it hit her like a brick to the face when she thought more of it; it wasn't just any ghost from the past -- although most were unpleasant -- it wasn't just any distant memory.

It was Xan.

The mother approached, but she did not go all the way to the borders. She had pups, after all, and could not go too far. She had told them to stay put, and hoped they would -- and if not, surely Piper would make sure they were safe in her absence. Laurel approached the borders feeling like a ghost, empty and drained, struck in the face by his appearance alone. She tried to get her life on track, so why was he here? To destroy it all again?

Laurel warily watched from a distance. She didn't hear what they spoke of -- Xan, Indra and Valette -- but she watched from afar, unable to draw herself nearer.
