He didn't have any better idea than she did about what this place was or what these strange things coming out of the ceiling and ground were. And she thought what he did next was very odd, which definitely showed in her expression as she watched him drag his tongue up the strange protrusion. He immediately pulled his tongue back, and his statement about it's taste had her grinning back at him, the grin growing in response to his laugh. But when he suggested she try the same thing, she offered him a suspicious look at first, her gaze moving between the weird spike and Donovan. But ultimately, she decided what the hell. She hesitantly pressed her pick tongue against the spike's surface and slowly drew it up along the side. She recoiled quickly though, her face wrinkling in disgust.
He then turned and brushed against her, immediately pulling her attention to him. She grinned again at his invitation and quickly shot forward to join him; she loved exploring.
Simmik didn't wait for him to lead the way; she moved ahead, taken over by the task of figuring out where the winding tunnel would lead them. The more turns there were and the longer they spent in the dark passage, the more excited she became.
Finally, the cave opened up once more, this time into a much larger area. She froze as she entered it, immediately awe-struck by the sight. The air was chilly, and it made an exhilarated shiver run down her spine as she shook out her thick, snowy coat; it was a nice change from the warmer temperatures outside. But more compelling than the icy air was the crystal clear water that spread out before them. It was so clear that the cave itself was reflected in its surface, making the cavern seem even bigger than it already was. The color was striking too—a light blue turned crystalline by the ice of the walls around them.
She walked forward to the edge of the water, drawn to it the most. She already knew it would be cool, and after licking that gross spike, she was almost desperate for a drink. She lowered her head to the water and slowly lapped up the chilly liquid, ripples spreading out from where she had disturbed the surface and distorting the reflection of the cave.
She lifted her head when she was done and looked to wherever Donovan was. She gave him another look of invitation and then turned made her way into the water. It was cold and after she made it deep enough that most of her body was submerged, the water seeped all the way through to her skin and made her shiver again. Then she watched Donovan, waiting to see if he would join her so she could watch the water cling to his form again.
What the hell; that's gross, she told him, lifting her paw to drag her tongue repeatedly over it to try and get rid of the taste.
