Shadewood rapidly they came

Raleska followed, a frail looking ghost on the fringes of the company. She avoided the curious looks of Valravn and Regin, both who had seen her by the den but rarely had an opportunity to interact with her. 

Tenseness held the line of her lips as they traced westward. Raleska was sorry to see the coast go, but these days she had little spark or energy, least of all for things as inconsequential as where she put her head at night. 

Following at a distance Raleska regarded the two surrogate mothers tiredly but warmly. Ironic, wasn’t it— that the two mothers that had replaced her own, in turn replaced her too?

Her children would be better for it, though her heart ached.
