She had been so preoccupied with her anger at first that she hadn't noticed his wounds. But when she did, she was angry about that too. Only she could put marks on his skin. She needed to know who had done this to him.
But that train of thought was put on hold for now as he told her what he had done. He was guilty, but then he always was. He begged her. She just stared coldly at him as her heart filed with hurt and betrayal. How could he claim to love her and continue to break his promises to her. Why wasn't she enough to keep him satisfied. She clenched her jaw and pushed away the self pity. No. she wouldn't allow him to turn her into the weak, crying girl she had once been. That was the old Simmik and she was gone—buried deep within her mind under darkness and trauma and the need to be strong and powerful.
She wouldn't let him take that away from her. For all her trying, hurt did flicker in the depths of her fiery gaze for a brief moment before she pulled her icy mask firmly in place.
She didn't know whether to laugh or scream—the feelings battled within her and made the world feel fuzzy around her. But she stood anyway, looking at her husband with fury. She lunged forward and aimed to tear a chunk from his face. Then she sat down and spit fur and bloody flesh on the ground at her feet. She couldn't speak yet, but that felt pretty fucking good.
