Akavir had returned from Akashingo and withdrawn from the pack to spend more time with his children. Given how quickly they grew, it was understandable that he did.
Whenever Eshe was tempted to visit them, she reminded herself that they were his priority, and she was just a foolish woman chasing after someone who'd rejected her. They deserved their privacy, and she respected that.
She had nearly finished applying her perfume when he stilled and was lying on her back when he stilled. Her eyes were closed, and she focused on the process, so it took her a moment before she became aware of his presence.
Suddenly flustered, her eyes shot open, his silhouette blurry as her vision cleared.
"H-Hey," Eshe greeted awkwardly, remaining on her back as she struggled to speak. "Welcome back."
