"Big family, then?" Akavir asked.
Eshe didn't blame him for diverting the subject of their conversation. She wouldn't want to talk about it, either.
"Huge" she answered. "As of this year, there are thirty-one of us." That was the number, right? It was difficult for her to keep track of everybody.
Eshe recognized Akavir's relief after she had offered to help, and her grin widened as her mind went to work. "What's the prey like around here?" she asked, assuming he knew better than her. "Anything big?"
