she let @Lafayette and @Shadess know she intended to patrol the sound. she could not sleep. she could not think. an annoying ripple of flame speared at her sides, and her head hurt beyond measure.

her entire life had her maman as her mainstay. the tears that could not manage to break the dam hours before came streaming down her face as she stole down the cliffs and unwittingly passed the very path that claimed val’s life.

she thought that keeping busy would keep her mind off of things. instead, she was only reminded of little memories everywhere she went; if she could just turn back time or fight back the day she’d been kidnapped, maybe none of this would have happened; the pirates wouldn’t have overwhelmed her tribe and she wouldn’t have lost her maman.

a gentle wind played through her fur as she walked down the open strand. it was a quiet night; the kind so peaceful and raw in its beauty that it humbled you. she turned her face up to the empty skies, endless indigo studded with a million diamonds and pearls! abruptly she remembered that her maman would never look up with stars in her eyes again —
