The camp that the imperator had chosen was not dreadful, but it was quite an open space. Khaba felt uneasy, constantly on alert.
When he woke early, he had half a thought to patrol on his own; however, he did not know this territory well. It would be foolish to do such a thing. Who knows- he could get lost, or worse, stumble down some unseen cliff.
So, to better his chances, he sought Germanicus, in the hopes that the man would agree to join him. With the man's company, it would also keep him far from Makono and where the mazoi could keep an eye on him.
