All Welcome
naming internal territories: "high up, jagged line of rock" maybe a @Prophet? <3

today augur left the elk behind.

he climbed for the goats.

he climbed for the view.

the young wolf panted over the expanse. his yellow eyes saw the moving herds, the billowing trees. he saw the shapes of the wolves he knew, only shadows against the rise.

the redtail pack waited to see if red woman grew large with pups.

augur turned away from the sights and continued his precarious hunt.

sorry for this takin forever <3

Prophet had not meant to follow after his favored soldier.

But look how easy it had been, to stride after him in long lopes. To stare upon his giant form with wonder in his gaze.

Augur, He would finally rumble warmly when he felt he was close enough to be heard.

is totally good! <3

augur whined a low sound as blood eyes came upon him. he bumped his heavy head against that of his leader.

he and tall man had been with red woman. augur had as well, but their coupling seemed less in the face of the two leaders. it was not a competition for him.

he invited blood eyes to travel with him, pressing up along the ridge.

Prophet held no regrets with the presence of Augur.

He had tested and brought the man forth. He had swaddled him in the name of family and held him in high esteem with it.

Augur had proven to be worth it all.

Are you hunting? He asked with a warm rumble in his voice. The man was not vocal by any means, but Prophet hoped he had at least associated certain words with certain actions.

augur tossed his head in the affirmative and nosed the hoofmark of a goat in the stony earth.

his tail waved. he stepped along the trail and lowered his muzzle to explore another print. there were many of them and the males would be angrier to see predators.

a hawk cried overhead. he lifted his eyes to watch it scythe across the sky.

Goat.

Augur was an inspirational hunter, wasn't he? Prophet had been keen to leave alone the rambunctious creatures. Still he fell in line silently when the other male kept his trailing pace.

A hawk's cry the only disruption. How nice it would have been able to have such a high few. He wondered if one could be trained, rewarded perhaps for such sights. A lofty goal, he imagined.

It hunts too, Augur may not have understood, or perhaps he did, either way the words were more...emotional. As if he truly did seek that connection with the hawk.

again the word hunt.

augur growled lowly in response. they hunted. they were hunters. the thought fired him.

he sensed something in blood eyes he did not comprehend. the man stopped in their track and set his yellow eyes on the leader with a questing expression.

Augur looked to him.

Prophet looked out away towards the skies, the looming mountains in the distance.

The hawk disappeared from any sort of closeness.

Lead, He instructed Augur. A swing of his head towards the beasts the Clawan had been on the trail of.

They could hunt together and Prophet could forget everything for a minute.

blood eyes motioned.

augur set off at a proud, swift trot. it carried him along the narrow path high above the rest of the rise.

the trails wound together and dipped apart. the third of them carried to a warm bed and a few sparse goathairs scattered around. the man went on, following this path until it led toward the edge of a lethally steep cliff — and the goat perched near its edge.

He trusted Augur.

Through and through. He had been given no doubts as to blessing the man with a name of his family. He lived up to it time and time again.

Even now, as they neared the lip of the cliff and a horned beast perched on its edge. The leader lowered himself, red eyes watching their surroundings as they approached.

He waited to see what Augur's next move was. Happy to be the follower in this hunt.

augur thrilled to lead the hunt.

it was a way to prove himself.

if he moved too quickly the goat would run down the side of the cliff. if he moved too slowly, he would be avoided in the same way.

augur chose a direct path: he took three crouching steps and then leapt, forepaws aimed for the goat's flank.

as sharp as a hoof was, it could not hold the goat from freefall.

Augur a leaping force, a living boulder crushing into the stony animal.

Prophet served as his assistant, teeth eagerly clicking with a warning sound to both the falling animal and any who may close near them. He doubted the other beasts would stick around with such a scene.

Somewhere below, the sound of it finally hitting the earth would be a triumphant sound.

the animal lay bleeding and close to death.

augur let it go.

he loosed a long, low howl.

was he second hunter, after tall man?

he looked to prophet with triumph and began to descend.

maybe fade <3

Augur proved triumphant time and time again. A great boon — and although Augur proved himself by his own worth, Prophet could not help but take pride in it too.

He had brought the man into the fold, he named him.

Prophet rumbled with grand approval and that pride he held onto so tightly.
