All Welcome
when chakliux woke, it was with @Nasamik in his mind.
his bleary eyes searched for @Kannoyak. he forced himself to stand, thirsty and with full bladder.
after he had made water, chakliux staggered forward, seeking the scent of a nearby stream. his shoulder oozed. his side pulsed with pain. he made himself travel in slow and jagged silence.

Her return had been slow. Again, her body ached. But she pushed through.

Down upon the glen, Nasamik could see Chakliux in the distance. There was a part of her that wished to be excited, but she could not find the energy.

To him, she walked. But she did not draw to his side and greet him with her affections like a doting wife. Sialuk has given me an answer. But not only this. Nasamik wanted not to tell it to him, but she knew he would ask for it.

jump in any time, teo, i will assume he is in earshot if u want! <3

the woman returned to him, but she was cool when he reached for her. chakliux was annoyed, both at this and that she did not give him the full answer.
"speak, woman," he commanded, made harder by hunger and pain. "what did the raindrop dancer say?"

He was sharp with both words and mannerism. She could not blame him. But it stung, all the same.

In Moonspear, you will be healed. But all comes with a price. When you are ready and able, you will warm the lodge of Sialuk. Nasamik had not realized how she had replaced the name of the place of sleeping. She had heard it used by him before. Now, it seemed to stick.

With her answer, she was vague. But as it had been guessed by the woman of Moonspear, he could piece it together how he chose.

Silent, now, Nasamik waited to know what his response to this would be. Ultimately, it was his choice more than it was hers. He was the one wounded. And even if she was not fond of the price, she truly cared more for his wellbeing than her pride as newly named wife.

at first chakliux did not comprehend what nasamik was saying. he had expected the rainstar to turn her back on him, as moonwoman was her mother!
now his own wife came to say that sialuk wanted him in her lodge! not as husband, but perhaps — perhaps she sought him to fill her body with children.
this thought appealed to him. he laughed though it hurt his side. "is that all, wife?" chakliux joked, eyes shining for he had heard her use of his seal hunter word. "why do you look this way?" he would receive healing and a place for he, kannoyak, and nasamik to build their lodge. they could hunt again. he would repair his status. why did she not seem pleased by all they would gain?

He joked, but there was nothing she found humorous.

There was more she wished to say; to argue in her defense, but this was not the way she sought to have her first argument as husband and wife.

It would be set aside. The constant movement... it does no well for my nausea, She said simply with a shake of her head and a faux smile. It was an easy lie, for it wasn't entirely dishonest. She did feel like she could hurl an entire week's worth of elk. And yet, she'd eaten nothing. Her belly hated her for it, but she continued to ignore the gnawing hunger.

chakliux grunted. he felt that nasamik must be jealous. but why? it was not a seal hunter's way to only keep one companion.
besides, if his bloodline found its way into the heart of the mountain, the children of he and nasamik too would call upon this.
"you have traveled long. i have rabbit left, back there." chakliux turned and moved back toward the first place he had rested.

The discussion had been forgotten. By his dismissal, Nasamik knew that Chakliux would agree to Sialuk's terms. What was the point of fighting it now?

When food had been offered, again, she declined. Later, perhaps. When they were among those of Moonspear. Then, when she can feel at ease, her body may allow the taste of food.

When you are ready, husband, we will travel again. Moonspear is not as far as it seems. The sooner they arrived and this whole thing could be done with, the better.

fading! <3

chakliux did not know why nasamik did not heed. "you carry my children. feed them." it was half an order. without the ability to hunt or a lodge of his own, chakliux had little status.
but this would return to him.
he turned his eyes upon the mountain.

last from me!

Chakliux demanded that she eat. It was for their children, after all. What card of reason could she play against this?

Nodding her head hesitantly, Nasamik slithered like a scorned puppy to where the rabbit remains lay. There, she huddled over it, too close for comfort. The pungent smell overwhelmed her, but she tried her best to push past it.

Small, slow bites, she took. Every swallow was forced, done with more force than should have been necessary. Nasamik dreaded every bite, knowing that later she would likely be taking to the long grass to hurl every bit she had consumed.

For the time being, however, she continued to eat. Purposefully, she avoided her husband's gaze, fearful that she would scorn her for something else. A terrified child, she had become. There was much change around her and little time to process any of it. And although she had faith and immense love for Chakliux somewhere hidden within her, she was having trouble finding it.
