All Welcome
to build a drive-line was heavy work. brush must be gathered, deadfall packed into walls that still needed to imitate the natural inclination of the land.
unfamiliar with forests and glens, chakliux had helped to settle moontide in their camp, setting a boundary and bringing them what meat he had carried with him. "i will trade for more," he exulted, and set off with a kelp-belly of seal fat slung around his broad shoulders.
but he had seen fit to make this first, a trap for the animals they meant to hunt. there was no exit where he had started his creation; for now the seal hunter was alone in the hunting-grounds, away from the din of the camps.

A striking figure stuck out amidst the hunting grounds. The emerald eyes of the woodsman set upon him. When Kyrell was granted the opportunity to break away from camp making and keeping he slipped through the crowds to investigate the figure. The moonwoman's concerns lay heavily within his mind, despite his excitement.

The woodsman watched the seal hunter from a distance, before the familar brine that traveled with the wolves of Moontide reached his nose. A smile graced his lips, and Kyrell walked forward openly, barking out to the wolf, Hello, there!

Kyrell paused to assess the work of the seal hunter. Makng preparations for the hunt? He would have his own to begin soon.

he was addressed by a stranger who was not fully unknown at all. wreathed in the scent of village moonglow, chakliux saw him at once as ally. green eyes watched the seal hunter from behind a mask in variances of earth and tree-tone, his own expression lingering curiously on those notched ears.
was it similar to his own scars? the first warrior stepped away and gave a friendly movement of his tail. "i greet you," he said as the sunshine people did. "and i am! this is a drive-line to trap them as they come for water."

bear with me if what i gleaned of the space is not what you were intending, i can edit if needed!

The seal hunter turned to face him and Kyrell could see in full the scars upon his body. While he did not ogle, per say, he gave them an appreciative eye. They did not appear accidental. How curious. He is not unaware of the attention upon his ears. The tags were far less interesting by all of Kyrell's account.

Kyrell offers a beat of his own tail and listens to the hunter explain the nature of the trap. Emerald eyes turn to study the man's work. His gaze traveling up and down the artificial incline, analyzing the work that had been completed and attempting to conjure the seal hunter's final vision within his own mind. He circled past Chakliux and turned around, trying to feel out the direction and flow the elk would take.

This trap,he started slowly,it is to funnel them one way and prove difficult to return, yes?

u got it! <3

he enjoyed the perusing look given by the other, delighting even moreso in how swiftly the moonglow wolf understood what he meant to do. "i saw a run built once, for caribou. it has not left my mind."
the ground sloped downward beside the river. wolves standing in the shallows would be well-placed to attack from the front, while the pursuers drove the animals down the run into the waiting teeth.
"i am concerned of this place, look," and chakliux gestured to a bend in the branches along the left side of the growing wall. "it is weak. but to strengthen it may make the run seem out of place there," he mused to himself, glancing for the spine-wolf's astute observation.

A caribou drive repurposed into an elk drive. The Moontide hunter's resourcefulness was impressive. Kyrell's attention was directed to the point of concern. A weakening within the wall. Kyrell approached the bend cautiously, taking great care not to touch the limbs threading the structure together. He clucked his tongue as he considered the problem.

It may be worth strengthening the wall, Kyrell considered aloud, if the funnel cannot withstand the body of an elk, it may give way. Large bodied creatures in large numbers. If under threat of teeth, elk may run against or even into the wall.

If the wall breaks the best case scenario is that the elk make an escape and scatter. The worst case is a hunter is posted behind it when it topples. Kyrell returned his gaze to Chakliux. It may appear unnatural but the world itself has its imperfections. Should the elk balk at the entrance, we may also have to consider how the air has begun to thicken with wolf scent.

"very good," chakliux muttered, pacing the length of the drive from shallows to where it flared for now. "there is good pine wood and birch saplings. perhaps some bark from the oaks?" he suggested, looking back to kyrell.
"it was in my mind that three be standing here, in the water," he pointed out, "and then at least three, to drive them up. the rest should fall back for what you said, the fear of the elk."
he circled again; he pressed his paw against this or that softer space in the wall and grunted, moving away to gather more deadfall but not before waiting for the moonglow wolf to join him.
"i am chakliux, first warrior of moontide. a seal hunter," he chuckled, thinking how out of place he was here among these deer-chasing folk.

That Chakliux had been testing him with his questions was not something that crossed Kyrell's mind until the man's praise. He tilted his head at the man before answering his next question, Oak is a hardy tree. If the bark can be removed in strips or sheets it can threaded within the limbs already in place. Mud might also do well in packing in small debris.

Kyrell held no qualms with the seal hunter, moving to the man's side to assist in collecting more materials for the drive line.

Hello, Chakliux. I am Kyrell Woodstalker, a hunter of Moonglow. Kyrell's ears cupped towards the first warrior, Seal are ocean animals, yes? I've never seen one before.

The woodsman's interest had piqued. Elk could be found in many places. Kyrell himself had be raised with them as well as other ungulates available. Seal lived beyond the stretches of land. Wolves were creatures of the earth, what tricks might a seal hunter have to be called such?
