Pack Activity
@Bracken @Mnemosynes @Chae @Kraai @Chesley @Kaaya @Mictec @Seal Pack Meeting before Viskani leaves! Round 1 will end Dec. 8th

The snow had begun to fall, and her time to exit had come. Exiting her den she appeared somber, Fauste trotting at her side yapping at her incoherently. It hurt her to leave him, but he would be safe with Mnemosynes.

Walking to the center of the densite, she lifted her chin and howled.

Her journey could be several moons, or just a couple. She did not know. In the next moon chaleurs was sure to come, and when it did she needed to be well on her way to finding someone suitable. It was her duty.

The magnolia was quick to heed the call.

Ever a boy who wanted to impress, he wasted no time, making haste and being what seemed to be the first to attend. The yapping of the fox kit was filtered out as he approached, dipping his head towards the queen: a silent greeting.

Kraai would sit, then, awaiting the remaining montagniens.

He wasted no time in joining his mother, for this meeting would deliver important news of his own.

Chaudry was still unsure of how he felt. With no Iris present, it was of no surprise that he was to take control, but could he really manage a whole pack? He kept his expression stoic, unwilling to reveal his feelings should it be taken as weakness.

He was many things, but weak was not one of them.

Seal enjoyed a full day and night of peaceful slumber in a warm den for the first time in many moons. The blood flowed back into her toes and ear tips – despite Seal thinking they had turned to icicles forever – and her achey body soothed.

Though awake, she remained in the dark burrow and reflected on what had happened and where she had ended up…

Yet it was not long before a nearby voice summoned the clan to gether.

Seal emerged from the den to see who had called them: a strong looking woman with slate fur that mirrored Chaudry’s.

This must be his Maman… the matriarch,
Seal concluded.

She made herself look very small and moved to a seat on the fringes of the gathering so she may better observe the group.

Mictec for the first time since her arrival to the foreign land had a proper chance to rest. She had been grateful for the invitation to rest so to be in the center of the pack gave her conflicting sensations as she reflected on her own previous pack. But she stifled such sentiments, keeping a relaxed, vacant expression as she observed the unique mannerisms of this pack. She chose to place herself towards the back of the gathering members, not wanting her presence to interrupt what appeared to be an important event.

Mnemosyne sits quiet in his own place. everyone waiting, tense and serious. Including himself. And they'll continue to wait many moons more. At this Mnemosyne feels a sudden wave of empathy for the Matriache. With that kind of responsibility Mnemosyne would've melted like snow in early spring.

His eyes move towards the little figure that is Fauste practically glued to her leg. Wondering if Viskani's absence in the pack would ever go as planned. He shakes his head. No, he tells himself, have more faith in your pack.

Thread closes Dec. 12 <3

She watched as each gathered, sending Fauste off to Mnemosynes before she began.

As I spoke of when we gathered some moons ago, the arrival of the snow means that the time for my journey has begun. She stated, eyes grazing over the wolves gathered in the densite. We have had some new additions since, so some explanations are well over do.

Once more she counted each arrival. As per the tradition of our mother pack, it is my duty to leave the vale during chaleurs with the purpose of expanding our ranks and diversifying the wolves in our pack. It is how our mother pack grew strong, and we will do the same. She offered the explanation, paraphrased from the words of her mother. Usually an Iris would lead in my absence, but given we do not have one presently Chaudry will take this role as our next highest ranked member. My usual duties will, for the most part, be taken care of by him until I return.

I could be gone for a few weeks, or a moon. It all depends on fate. This is not something so easily planned. It was a pain, really. Upon my return to the vale I will begin preparations for the arrival of litters in the spring.

The long-winded statements were over, and now it was time to say farewell. Take care of yourselves, hm? I look forward to seeing each of you soon.

Seal listened attentively.

The matriarch’s explanation did not make Seal balk. She had been exposed to many different kinds of relationships in her young life and so she percieved love, marriage, and parenthood as fluid. Her mother and father had a traditional, nuclear family… but her mentor, Sialuk, found fufillment and happiness by becoming a mother and a paramour without either role being mutually exclusive.

Perhaps this is how I can repay my debt, she thought to herself. She was a practiced botanist and healer with knowledge about midwifery. Maybe Chaudry’s Maman would find this useful….
