All Welcome
ooc: Scavenger hunt - a voluntary pack activity, which takes place near Stavanger bay. Wolves will be going through stuff that the ocean has brought to the shores.
No set posting order, free roleplay (meaning that people can interact with each other, have conversations) and dice rolls to decide, what they find on the beach. Lucky roll - edible, not so lucky - a gumboot, for example. :) Let your imagination run wild!

Round 1 ends on 10th July.

Now that the kids had grown so much as to walk on their own and not relying on their mother's milk so much, Osprey thought it was a high time that they started to learn searching for their own food and learn the difference between stuff that was edible and stuff that was not (or stuff that was potentially dangerous). Though the green had come back and there were news that the herds were returning, it would take time before the weakened wolves would recover from the famine and things would return to normal.

She had had luck finding scraps of sea-food on the beach before and therefore, whenever Dante or other nannies stayed with the kids, Osprey would almost always try to do a quick round there to see, whether any treasures were washed ashore. And this she had done today also - a night before a storm and heavy rainfall had taken place and as she had expected the usually empty sandy beach and clear water was now full of copious amounts of sea-weeds, tree branches, sticks, clams and other debris. After finding a fish during a brief examination of it, she decided there and then it would be a wast of a good opportunity not to ask others to join her.

Therefore she lifted her muzzle, calling for all (@Aria , @Eilidh , @Constantine , @Lucani , @Renoir , @Dante , @Rowan Mayfair , @Terance , @Deirdre ), who were in the vicinity, to come and scavenge on the beach. She herself left to tell her mate about the good news and herd the three growing cubs here and give them their first lesson in the art of scavenging.

cripes about to have two characters in this mess

Aria arrives quickly, excited to get this started. She greets Osprey with a gentle head dip and a wag of her tail, glancing down towards her pups. She makes a quick, goofy face in their direction before glancing out into the territory to wait for the others to arrive.

Terance protests little on their adventure to the shore. He does complain that his feet hurt a little, but spends the rest of his time making sure that Sarah and Wraen are OK-- even if Sarah usually makes a point of telling him that she is indeed fine. "Moma," he says loudly when they stop, nipping at her heels. "Smell like ew," he tells her with a wrinkled nose. He is disrupted-- however-- when a large white stranger arrives. He maybe recognizes her scent, as she has visited once or twice, but her face is strange. She makes a face at him and he reacts with a baby growl pawing towards her face. She soon turns around though, and he's left to complain once again. "Moma," he yips again.

Summoned, the swarthy male did not hesitant when called upo9n, and coming upon the shores of the coast, his eyes would seek out Osprey, who was only now herding her three cubs back to the area she had beckoned them to. Aria was also there, and tipping his muzzle down to both respectfully, the dark wolf cast his fiery eyes to the waters, noting the peaceful glint upon its smoother surface.

Settling to his haunches, Constantine awaited the reason for the pack gathering, remaining silent with his thoughts.

laziest post ever omfg I need to get back to this

The children were growing fast and the pack was becoming more integrated into their lives.  Normally, however, one of the parents was also present still.  Today Osprey had been left with them while Dante was off doing wolf-ish things (lazyyy).  He wasn't so far from the beach where she took the little ones as to not hear her call, so when it came, he left off doing whatever and came to join in on the fun.

Upon arriving he went to stand at Osprey's side, brushing affectionately against her before bending down to greet the children with friendly bumps of his muzzle.  This would be a big day for them, perhaps.

He was late to the party, but his heart was still so heavy, and thus his steps were slow and filled with lethargy. Emotions always hit Renoir with great fervor and it was difficult to shake this mournful feeling from himself, but he would try. For the sake of the pack, he would do his best to be of use and to get through this. The herds had begun to return in earnest, which meant that life would get easier for the entire family — but Renoir was still resistant to the changes in the air. Almost as if he coveted his sadness as strongly as he had coveted his connection to Lasher.

The boy followed when the group delved away from Donnelaith and on to the foreign sands of the beaches beyond. He did not speak to anyone, but he listened, and toiled along behind the bulk of the group. Renoir watched each wolf he came across with a shy smile, a tired look, but for all intents and purposes he kept to himself while he participated.

ooc: I am so sorry for the delay! I have not been well this week, therefore the lack of activity.

It was a good thing that kids were big enough to walk on their own. Even if they complained (like Terance did) or sulked in silence (Sarah). Wraen being the happy-go-lucky person of the group was more focused on the adventure rather than the fact that you had to walk a distance.

However they made it and by then there was a small group of people gathered there already. Osprey gave everyone a smile and then told: "Though it smells awful, sea has provided us with the opportunity to feast. From, where I looked, there are plenty of fish and small crabs washed ashore - we just have to dig them up. And don't get the temptation to eat sea-weeds. You will end up with a horrible case of diarrhea." The weeds contained copious amounts of salt that could draw water out of you and dry up your insides. No one wanted that, did they.

With that she was done and after giving her husband an affectionate lick on the cheek, she proceeded in herding her brood towards the nearest pile in order to show them, how to dig and how to find the good stuff.

Sarah did not have to be told twice - being an eager explorer and pupil of the grand art of "hunting" - she followed her mother and then, unable to content her excitement, loped in front of her, aiming straight for the green-brown mush in front of her. And once there, standing right up to her chest in the sea-weeds and debris, she shot Terance a smug glance, as if saying - Can you do that, coward?

Then she plowed the dirt with her muzzle, did a few, quick digging movements with her forepaws, and with a tiny laugh made a jump right out of it and dashed away.

the forests witch drew forth from the edges of the wood, a dazed expression crossing her countenance. the summons of osprey had beckoned to her heart, and she followed it thusly; and there, near the shores, were her loved ones. a smile bloomed across her visage, and the girl moved languidly in their direction, greeting each present with a gentle nuzzle if they permitted the contact. she was in time to hear osprey's instruction, and prior greeting her she listened well to the words spoken. only when the woman finished did deirdre draw close to her to profer a kiss to her cheek, if allowed--for deirdre loved osprey quite fiercely, the woman being her second friend ever made. tachyon had been the first--but tachyon had gone. he was present in her heart, but he was another loved ghost that trailed her in the wildwood. i am sorry i am late, she whispered softly, and then moved to greet her brother in just as familiar a manner. to aria, there was a brief, blushing smile. dante she plainly cared for; he had aided her in her youth, and though once he had frightened her deirdre did not recall such a time. he had only ever been kind, and as osprey loved him so too did she. deirdre moved at length toward renoir, to whom she had made a promise. perhaps soon they would take their journey.

it doesn't smell so terribly, does it? she began, by way of forging conversation with the frenchman. she wondered how he was; she had avoided so much of her heart that reminded her of her father, and his accented tones had caused her to think on lasher. and yet she longed to hear them now! and felt her ears lean toward him, and her eyes behold the lovely blond renoir.

His muzzle swept down to greet his sister, not considering her late, nor chastising her on the matter. She was all he had left, and his eyes swept over her with fondness, regarding her as she made to converse with Renoir. Osprey drew his attention once more, and upon her instruction, the swarthy Mayfair gave a brief nod of his muzzle, loping along the shores near the waters, his own paw scraping along the tangle of seaweed to see if any prize remained inside.

Thus far, the yearling only found a crab shell, though his paw continued to swipe further along in hopes of surfacing something of more use.

Deirdre arrived what she called late, and went to Renoir right away. Seeing this, Aria abandoned her seat beside Osprey and moved to nose the young girl away from him. She regarded him with a kind smile and a wag of her tail. "Deirdre, will you please walk with me? I have a scratch on my side and was hoping you could wash it before we went to search," she says with a smile, hoping the girl would leave Renoir to walk with her. This was the man who Deirdre had said called her sweet things-- correct? This was not okay to her, and she prayed that she could ease the young Mayfair away safely.

3 i'm assuming that somehow a golfball rolled washed up on the beach...

Terance regarded the challenge with a >:o type of face, a baby growl rumbling in his throat. He leaps towards his sister and buries himself in the seaweed, his wiggling himself into the smelly stuff. "Hah!" he yelled, his voice muffled by the green mass. His pointed teeth sought through the grossness to find something, and sunk into a foreign object. It was rough and clicked against his teeth as he grabbed hold. He flung himself from the pile-- his object flying into the sand-- seaweed flopping all around him and wrapped around his dark body. He waddled over to his item, still covered, and found a strange and round, white with little crators coating it. It was fairly large, and when he picked it up again-- where those around him could see-- he looked rather ridiculous. But he had, after, found something his sister hadn't.

He did not know what to do with himself. The wolves of Donnelaith gathered, and he did not know many of them. When Deirdre finally arrived his heart gave a flutter, and within moments another woman approached, but it was to garner the attention of the angel girl, and so he let them have their space. Aside from that the boy was soundless and roaming at the back of the gathering. The gray woman - Osprey if he remembered correctly - spoke then, and he listened, but felt little inclination to participate; his lethargy had become palpable, it weighed upon him and slowed his reaction speed, but also his enthusiasm for most things. For the time being the golden boy lingered away from the others - watchful, but alone.

Sarah could only get few meters away, when Terance's loud and victorious "Hah!" reached and she simply had to make an u-turn and run back to him to see, what he had found. Much to her disappointment her brother did have found something, which made her frown first and then take the simplest route of all - a frontal attack.

"Rawr!" she growled as she approached her brother with all intents of pushing him down and take away, whatever he had got in his mouth.

"Just watch them go," Osprey told Dante, while she was watching Terance and Sarah's doings with a smile. The air of competition between these two was amusing to watch and she wondered, what would come out of it, as they became older.

"Want to look for treasure?" she asked her youngest daughter, who had chosen to stay behind this time and not join her siblings in playing. "Come on," she nudged the girl lightly and beckoned her to follow to the nearest pile of sea-weeds. "These don't bite or eat naughty puppies. Pretty harmless they are," she explained, as she showed, how to dig and, what to look for.

"Here," she had found a small fish and offered to the girl. "Try it - it's not as half as bad as it smells."

His fiery eyes watched as Aria seemingly intercepted Deirdre from Renoir – an action that spurned question within him, but not something he was willing to act upon just yet. Instead, pulling away from the small holes he had begun to dug, the ebony youth loped toward the side of the golden man – one who seemed most lost with Lasher’s passing, despite barely knowing the man – or what Constantine would deduce as such. “Renoir, bonjour,” he greeted, the use of his old tongue coming forth and familiar with the French man.

By appearances alone, Renoir was depressed due to the loss of the Donnelaith patriarch; but in truth, running deeper than he even knew, Renoir's sadness rooted in something else entirely. The last conversation they had together - Lasher and himself - had been about secrets, and the past, and things Renoir would happily forget; it had been about the many things he kept secret from even himself. With the loss of Lasher, Renoir had deduced that he was alone. That there was nobody with whom he could share his thoughts with to that degree - although he had been resistant with Lasher too - and so he withdrew socially.

This presented a problem, more or less, when Osprey summoned everyone together. He willingly presented himself at the gathering and tried to participate, lingering first with Deirdre, feeling his heart sink when she was called away from him, and then finding his attention being diverted to one of Lasher's brood - something akin to a stand-in, a doppleganger. He could not remember the boy's name but he tried to be friendly and courteous all the same. Renoir dipped his head in a friendly nod and murmured, Bonjou, as a small smile wove across his creamy face.

her attention was diverted by aria, and at the others request, deirdre smiled and nodded, all too happy to oblige. to the waters! she hummed excitedly, nodding toward her brother and to renoir both as she drifted in that direction, looking toward the silver-eyed woman. is the itch from a wound that heals? she pondered aloud to her adored friend, emerald eyes holding her.

While watching, how Wraen finished her fish and how her two eldest fought over an object that looked like a white, round rock, she took a moment to cast a glance around and see, what others were doing. It seemed that not all of the young, who were probably excellent at hunting, were equally excited about the prospect of scavenging. Which was a shame in her opinion, but she could not and did not have the energy to teach them otherwise.

After a good hours work, people slowly dispersed, until it was only her, Dante, kids and one or two, who had stayed behind. Osprey settled down to tell a story and, since the night seemed to be warm, she decided that her family would spend the night there as well.
