All Welcome
Something was different that day. She didn't know what precisely, but there was something almost giddy to her mood that day. It was what drove her away from her position close to Indra's den and to the outside territories that day because she felt unusually energetic. Laurel didn't realise that it was her first heat slowly catching up with her, making her feel this way. She made her way through the thick snow of the meadow, and then she started to run.

Eager to just go somewhere for a little bit, get some of this giddy energy out of her feet, Laurel woofed excitedly while she chased a few lone crows off their perch on a hill. Just as the crows flew off she tripped and, almost as if it was her intention to trip all along, rolled in the thick snow, covering her tawny fur in little specks of snow.

Sif was officially freaked out. There was an odd scent in the air lately and she didn't know what to make of it. Not even when she drew near enough to see that it was emanating from Laurel. The dark girl liked closer, intent on asking the older girl, but soon turning in a wriggling, excited, anxious mess. Something about the scent made her fearful and energetic in turns, and she approached with her belly low to the ground, tail wagging frantically.

"Hi," she whined, trying to attack Laurel's chin with a torrent of kisses. I'm insignificant, said her body, but her mouth said, "You smell so happy!"

When Laurel got up from rolling in the snow another was in front of her. Laurel thought to have seen her 'round Bearclaw Valley bits and pieces and wondered if she had been following her all along. There was a strange mixture of emotions in her; she felt both protective and jealous somehow, wanting to chase off the other girl, but at the same time she felt so giddy and excited and wanted to get to know her better. She leapt to her feet as the girl approached with submissive body.

A growl bubbled in her throat as her chin was assaulted with kisses, mostly because she wasn't used to being greeted with such respect and her personal space'd always been rather big. You smell so happy, said the girl, and for a moment Laurel just stood frozen in time, as if not sure which of her two choices to pick (angry or happy). Then she giggled and said, "Don't be an idiot, you can't smell happy!" She pawed at the girl's face in a playful gesture, inviting her to play.

Sif grew no less wiggly at the signs of friendliness that Laurel displayed. If anything, her tail whipped harder than ever. (Later on, she'd find it in herself to disagree with the older girl; happiness definitely had a scent. For now, though, she was more focused on how weird everything was.)

Laurel's paw-to-the-face was accepted with good humor, and with Sif trying to cover that with licks, too. With desperately friendly glances at the older girl's face, she dared to nip at Laurel's shoulder in a similarly playful gesture. This, however, proved too much for her bowstring nerves to handle, and Sif darted away in what was, ostensibly, an invitation for the other girl to chase her. In reality, she was just plain running, hoping a bit more rapid motion would burn away her anxiety.

The girl seemed to be happy and submissive both, a combination that Laurel might normally be grumpy about (mostly the 'happy' part) but now somehow didn't seem to mind much. At least not while there were no boys around. Laurel giggled as her batting paw was covered in licks too.

Seemingly suddenly, after a nip to her shoulder, the girl darted away, and Laurel took this as an invitation to play indeed. She followed after, woofing as she darted after the girl, glad to let go of some energy too. Clouds of snow followed them as they ran and Laurel tried to catch the other girl; if she'd catch up, she would keep running alongside her and nip at her flank.

whoops sorry for the dumb thread The other female kept chasing her! Sif sped up with a worried ki-yi!, throwing a startled glance over her shoulder. Was this a game? If it was, Sif didn't know if she wanted to be playing it. The other girl was older than her, and while the strange scent around her made Sif feel a bit giddy, she wasn't about to see if whatever Laurel had was catching.

The dark girl zoomed away, tail wagging in apology.

Laurel didn't manage to catch up with her, and was left standing in the snow, blinking. She wasn't entirely sure what the heck had just happened but whatever it was, Laurel wasn't going to keep standing around like a dummy. "Fine, leave me too," she muttered in a short bout of annoyance. Then she looked at the snow and suddenly pounced at it, as if trying to grab the snow, then rolled again, and ran away, tail wagging, before returning home to find Indra.
