All Welcome
Everyone appeared to be busy fortifying their new borders or otherwise staying occupied, and he couldn't immediately fine Nieve, so Reyes made a bold choice and sought out the northern ledges of the territory. From here he made his swift escape, not looking back as he delved along the winding path leading towards the forest; this forest had sheltered them as they'd made their initial inland course away from their ruined home. He hoped to find his way through it and begin a proper hunt for @Rosalyn — but in his fervor, and being a coastal creature more than an arboreal one, he got turned around a few times.

When Reyes emerged from the trees he was spit out along the flatlands. He could smell water and was led by his nose towards it, thinking he was fortunate enough to have succeeded — but he came upon the edge of a freshwater river and was immediately confused by the sight of it, the sound of it. He'd never seen anything like a river before. All the water in his life had been heavily salted and this place was lacking the familiar brine, so he recoiled and sped the other way.

The next time he stopped he was almost out of breath. The air was thick with a syrupy scent that reminded him of dead seal; his snout wrinkled but he pressed on, huffing and puffing while the smell deepened, turning so noxious that he felt light-headed by it. When Reyes finally stopped it wasn't by choice: he nearly stepped in to one of the many strange pools and with a scramble, managed to avoid plunging chest-first in to one of the deeper segments.
