made a small ( hopefully safe ) assumption that he's been officially accepted b/c i have the muse to post, ehe.
uncertainty still hangs heavy in the air around rasalas as he carefully stretches his legs from the place he’d napped. it was a short nap, but healing required a lot of energy and the recovery from malnutrition was slow-going. though his belly has been full since niamh brought him here it took a little over a month to get in this condition and it would take at least that long to recover. still, he feels greatly indebted; a heavy weight like the bearing of the sky upon his shoulders. he owes niamh his life, for whatever it is worth, and he doesn’t want to be spending time lounging about.
though he wants to learn more about the stars, to study them upon the open nightsky he knows it’s not the most practical areas of study. it doesn’t really contribute much to the pack itself and so, rasalas makes his way to the borders to walk an embarrassingly slow going patrol. that, at least he can do even if he can’t realistically cover much ground before he gets tired.

Eljay was a little worried to find that Rasalas had gone so far from where he'd been resting. Though he seemed to be healing well enough, Eljay was worried about the youth since he was young and thin still; and Eljay desperately needed something to fawn over right now, just as much as Niamh had when she found him, since Maia and Wraen's departure. He dropped the food he had brought for him and decided to bury it for now -- maybe if the boy chose to revisit the place later he would find it and eat it up -- then continued to follow the boy's trail.
It surprisingly lead towards the borders. It wasn't very hard to catch up with the boy as he slowly made his way along the borders, showing he wasn't physically fit just yet.

Hey sport, said the caretaker as he caught up with him.
How're you holding up?There was a soft worry shining in his eyes that clearly showed that he wasn't sure that the boy should be out yet, but he didn't speak of it and instead waited to hear how he was doing.
Eljay would've shortly checked up on Rasalas' health / healing process a few times between the previous thread and this one. :)

that's fine! i'm so sorry for the wait on this! <3
it was arrogant to assume that he would be able to walk along the borders without an adult checking up on him …or perhaps even keeping an eye on him. hey sport, rasalas’ head swings in the direction of the voice — familiar to him as eljay — and he wags his tail in greeting. he’s never been called ‘sport’ before and isn’t sure what to do with it; hesitating, turning the name ‘rasalas’ over and over upon his tongue before letting it go. even if eljay forgot his name …did it matter? rasalas’ ear twitches but he keeps to his silence — partially because of wanting to avoid pain and partially because he isn’t quite sure how to respond.
fine.it’s more curt than rasalas means it to be; chosen to minimize the amount of speaking he’d have to do. he could’ve elaborated but rather enjoys giving one word answers.

The only answer was short, and it was what Eljay was used to from Rasalas. He was curious to know more, but at the same time he didn't want to put too much stress on the boy's healing body either. He understood that right now, talking was painful to him.
I'll try to stick to yes or no questions,Eljay said with a soft smile following the curtly spoken word. It would be easier to just nod or shake his head, after all.
But I'm glad to hear you're holding up well - and I'm glad to see you out and about. That's a good sign. Can I join you?He didn't entirely intend to let Rasalas wander around on his own, so he really hoped that the answer would be a nod of the head or a yes.
