I'm a sucker for an unhappy ending and this is as tragic as they come: a life full of hardships and then a sense of hopeless so pervasive there's really nowhere left to turn. This bit resonated with me particularly: "hold on, i'm coming too - arcturus thought, knowing his final peace would not come until he too went to the clearing at the end of the path." The entire post was beautifully bittersweet and such a profoundly sad conclusion for Arcturus. I applaud all the lovely writing you did for him over the years. The one upside is Arcturus will definitely not be alone anymore now that he's been sent off to his Final Whumping; he'll be in some great company. <3
