Neverwinter Forest Do you sleep with the light on

Upon his back he carried precious furs. 1 deer, two otters, and a skunk. That one had been awful. He had to trap it an sneak up on it and dispatch it before it could spray. it had not been easy and he had honestly been fearful for a hot minute. But surprisingly he had succeeded. Probably because this one was older than most and near about dead anyway. There was that. Small favors he supposed. HE also carried with him herbs for wounds and sickness.

His daughter had told him of these wolves. How she possibly wanted to join them, to learn their stories, their songs. And he didn't blame her. But he was still a father and he was still anxious and so he moved towards the dark forest.

He stopped at teh borders and lifted his nose into a call of hello. And information sharing. Even a trade if they were up to it. But what this pack had ready to go he wasn't sure.  But perhaps they did. Then he settled his burden to his side and sat down, waiting at the border line patiently. Unlike his rash daughter. He did know how to make an entrance without bouncing on any toes. 

But she was young and she would learn.

it was not her sister, but she rushed towards the borders like a winter flurry upon the cold air. excited! overjoyed! how good it would be to forge bonds of moonvillages in proper and full.

she tried to compose herself as she grew closer, slowed her pace and caught her breath.

hello, she greeted but could not hide the wide smile upon her features. it is a blessing to have a moonspear face here. she did not know him directly, but clearly his presence was welcomed all the same!

The one that met him had her mother and her sister in her face. She was Nuiruk he'd bet his life on it. He had also seen her from afar a time or two. Though he'd never gotten to know her. 

Boy Aiolos and Kukutux knew how to grow him in a manner of speaking. How the man wasn't terrified all the time Alaric didn't know. He only had one true daughter and he was scared shitless 9 times out of ten.

He dipped his muzzle. My daughter Kinusi told me of your borders. She may want to come to join, but I wanted to meet the leaders first. I'm Alaric. Second to Sialuk in leadership of Moonspear. It is a pleasure to greet you.

her sister's second! she liked the man that much more now.

she told him this all so that he (and moonspear) may know who helmed the woods. that it was not just strangers!

her eyes danced upon the furs.

moonspear fares well? her tail waved behind her now.

Alaric would not belittle all Sialuk worked for by claiming he was equal. He was not. Truth he wasn't even sure how he had 3nded up here.
She may think it good now. But Alaric knew his daughter and she tested fully grown men and their patience.

He nodded. We do made more from the great hunt. I bring furs and herbs for trade if you are interested.

the boar have been our bounty. i have the bones, meat and pelt for trade. if such things interest moonspear in return.

So boar. They were not an easy task. he had hunted sows and their piglets with Chakliux that one time and even they only went near the babes. It spoke testament to the strength of these wolves at least in hunting. So many hunters. It was nice.

He nodded his head. Yes I would love a pelt, but Sialuk would probably iike the bones. He thought about it. What items would you take for one or the other or both?

he had more things back at his den. If she was willing to trade both, he would go get more. He had no qualms of this.

she examined the things he had brought with him closer now.

the skunk she nearly wished for novelty alone! how many others could say they claimed such a thing? yet she had thoughts forming around the otter skins.

would you part with both otter skins? she asked with the understanding that he might not! perhaps he wished to still walk for trading to other villages. you may take as many bones for sialuk as you think she will like and the pelt will be yours.

she motioned now to invite him to walk with her to where such had been stashed. if she escorted him in and out, anyone might think twice before becoming defensive of their new home.

Alaric had been torn about the Skunk skin. That had been if he may say so himself, a pretty impressive task, without having it spray. Though perhaps the poor thing was so old it couldn't spray anymore. No it was him, he was impressive. That was what he wanted to believe right now so he would.

He nodded his head. Yes i brought these items specifically to trade with your pack. Hmm he was not certain how many bones to get her. He thought back on the things he knew about bone reading which frankly was not much. But there had been a seer on the edge of the forest that had helped to knit his body back after. Well just after. he pressed the thoughts away.

I will take any Skulls, teeth, long bones and claws. I believe these are some of the good bones to read if the witch of a forest I once knew was to be believed.

she felt flattered!

how good for him to come to trade with only them. she wished to send someone back in return. perhaps even herself! only she knew she was needed here for now.

and she became intrigued by his words.

and was she from a forest near here?

He had wanted to know the wolves his daughter wanted to live among. And he could see her intrigue. The forest had stories galore he'd wager and songs. Kinusi would love it. He preferred things a little more dangerous. And he was glad actually that his daughter kind of wanted to be lower to the ground than the spear. 

He smiled, but there was a dull glimmer in his eye. He did not like to remember that time. But the witch she had treated him well. He didn't even know her name. Just that she had been ill tempered and blunt. But she had known her way around herbs and bones. 

She is from far away. A wolf that put me back together once upon a distant dream. And taught me much.
