Bruised and exhausted, Piper had dragged herself inland. So maybe she'd cut it a little too close with that last jump. Maybe she'd been reckless — but it wasn't like there was anyone around to care about that.

Still, suffering to death was not part of her 5 year plan. The fall hadn't killed her outright, and so she would go on. When she came to the borders of a pack it almost seemed like a sign from above — one that said, in glaring red letters, CALM YOUR SHIT FOR A LITTLE WHILE.

Okay. Fine. Message received.

She tossed her head back to howl for whoever was in charge of the place.

Few enough had passed through since the move, something which still amazed the panther. He was surprised therefore when a voice called out from the borders — and one he didn't recognize, to boot! He hurried toward the sound, long legs eating up the ground at a rapid pace.

"Peace be," he said, greeting the red-and-gold girl on their borders. She seemed perilously young to him after all the time he'd spent worrying about Sulukinak, and at once, he felt a certain paternal protectiveness over her. "You're hurt — do you need a healer?"
