Normally, Ruenna would have kept up the chambers belonging to herself and Germanicus, but as her last trimester set in she'd found herself leaning more heavily on @Tamar to assist with domestic tasks. Ruenna accepted this help with great appeciation. Tamar was pleasant company for her, and the Matrona found herself looking forward to these visits.
"Tamar.." Ruenna posed thoughtfully, one afternoon when they were working to air out the pallets. "You've been such a help to me." She smiled gratefully. "I was wondering if I could trouble you for more help; I need someone with a mind for history and cultures." Tamar had expressed an interest in bookkeeping, and so Ruenna thought it likely she had retained some knowledge in these areas.

tamar was beginning to wonder if there was something the matter with her.
ruenna glowed with pride even as her movements became less easy. tamar was pleased to help the matrona wherever possible, and today was no exception.
the older woman's soft voice raised tamar from her inner grumblings. the girl blinked gently and nodded, eagerness filling her pale eyes. she sat back and upright, as a scribe would. "what would you like me to record?"

Ruenna shook her head. "We're not recording history." She added with a small smile, "We're making it. Mereo will have children this spring." Perhaps Tamar had noticed the changes to Ruenna's figure already.
"I was hoping you could help me with the names for the young ones. I want to incorporate our cultures-- mine and Germanicus's, but also some personal meaning. ..I would ask Germanicus for help, but I think I would like better to surprise him." Germanicus had a way of incorporating romance into his little daily acts, and Ruenna hoped that by crafting loving and meaningful, Roman-inspired names, she might be able to make a return gesture of affection.

tamar had always thought the matrona was pretty.
but now, her figure and face were transformed. she seemed to scintillate with secrets tamar did not know. and perhaps she would not. at the pronouncement of lady ruenna, her eyes widened.
it was a request that carried much magnitude. much honor.
"congratulations and good health to you, matrona," tamar murmured, genuinely pleased despite the ache that had started deep inside her. she folded her paws. "i know a little of the imperator's culture. but i do not know so much of yours. how are children named there?"
ruenna wished to surprise her husband. tamar wished that her moment for this might come quickly.
