For @Ajei

Eyes on me, love. A gentle whisper, as they stood before one another and the words were said by Moonwoman. Excitement and nerves shown in her eyes, same as his own, yet he stood strong before her. His attention never wavering from her features until the ceremony had come to an end.

After which the couple would stand before a group who howled out in song for their matrimony. Arrluk and Ajei would be free to greet their guests, partake in the spoils or food and look over the wonderful gifts given to them. It is here where Arrluk turns over the otter skin and deer hide which Ajei had rested in the pile previously. Did you do this, Ajei?

His father had not told him at all of their hunt. A surprise the father would leave for Ajei and Ajei alone to reveal.

A thrill at the quiet love. Something that had not been called in any memory. And her heart skipped a beat. She couldn't quite believe it. And yet it felt so true and so real she knew she could believe it. Ajei had not imagined this beautiful swelling of feeling.

The howls made her ears twitch. How she wanted to fold them tightly. Find a quiet place and be ignored. But she could not today and she should not. Also part of her also strangely enjoyed it. A feeling she would peruse later when she was somewhere quiet. She was just not a fanfare wolf.

A small nod. Yes. You were getting my bride price. And I didn't want you to have nothing. It seemed unfair. So I asked Sun Man to help me hunt. But I worked and cleaned the hide. The otter was my own fight though. Precious grandma otter. She fought so very hard.

Arrluk had been made to hunt an elder otter as well. It was this otter which left the new pink scar on his muzzle now. This one, Ajei said, had fought hard also. They had both killed them. It was a sad thought, of the two elderly beings coming to their end. They had good deaths but something about it, a familiarity, struck a cord in Arrluk...

It is very well done... Arrluk knew that it took much effort to do and had watched his mother do it time and time again. Arrluk didn't much do it himself, but knew the quality when he saw it. Its beautiful Ajei. He said with a toothy smile as he looked to her and moved to press his head against her own. Between deer hides, otter pelt, wolverine and weasels, their collection had already swelled. Generations of treasure stored deep among Moonglow.

Ajei had felt that since she demanded of Arrluk that he hunt and elder otter, something that he and she both revered in a way. Then it was onlyl fair that she hunt one too. Equality and all that. She would not have him carry that burden alone. Even if it weren't really a burden par say, as much as it were something of morality.

A small smile. Thank you.

She had been working on pelts as long as she could remember. It had always been a task she found herself enjoying. The sunlight, the water. The repetition. It was something that lit up her heart that she could not explain.

She leaned into him a soft little sigh working past her maw. They had done well. We did well.

We did. A whisper as he presses the top of his skull to her cheeks gently, tail waving behind him.

How would you feel about going out in the morning? He asked as he pulled back, pausing to take a look over their little gathering. I've not been to the bay in some time. We could spend a day or two there.

Arrluk didn't have the word for 'honeymoon' on his tongue, but this was it. He had always quite favored the place Vaire for a time had called home.

A chuff of small laughter. She was simply happy, content, excited. They were so hopeful for their future.
She too looked out over their small gathering. Happy with its size. She had never wanted lavish things. It was not how she loved.

It had been too long since they went anywhere together. And the bay longer still.

A nod. I think I'd quite like that. Yes how early?

she would need to pack a few dried items so they didn't hunger on their trip. But it would be worth it. They could hunt for more filling sustenance or fish on the way.

We will wake with the sun. He states with a grin, knowing that his ears would probably twitch to the sound of Ajei stirring in the den hours before hand, readying them for their trip.

Now go, mingle. He would nudge her playfully at the underside of her chin and then he too would flock towards his father's awaiting figure.

can end after your post and we make another there?

Works for me

She nodded. Already thinking of all she may need to pack. Fats and berries. Hard and dried fish. Things that could be easily carried and last for the trek. It was not that far of course. Ajei briefly wondered what would await them there.

She looked around a small dose of fear, but she did not. She would do what he asked. She would mingle, even if it was hard. And these were wolves she cared about and loved.
