The day arrived and they were off. Ajei had made sure to pack extra furs to carry their salmon. And there was a quivering excitement deep in her chest. It had been so long since she had simply gone fishing to enjoy it. And even longer still that she and @Arrluk were every able to get away. It always seemed that they were busy or helping around the spear. And she didn't mind that. But it was nice to get out every once and a while.
The day had dawned bright and a little chilly, but the weather seemed that it would hold up for them. And she excitedly led the way to the start of the river from the lake that these Salmon would be jumping too. There were bears of course, she knew there would be. But she was a bit surprised at the number of them. But as long as they stayed away. She imagined it would be alright. Therre would be more than enough room. She even saw many bends where they weren't even nearby. Good. They could fish those.

The salmon lake was not far. Honestly, it seemed what took them the longest was making their wat down through the mountainous territory that was Moonspear. Arrluk had actually never gone all the way to the higher elevations, despite the time he and Ajei had spent in his sister's claim. Out into the glen, it was open green waves of grass before them.
Once out into this openness, Arrluk would woof between two furs clutched in his jaws and darted forth, ready for a free run with nothing but fresh, open air before them.
Soon they had come to the lake and he followed Ajei's lead for a place where the river met. There were bears indeed, yet the pair of wolves seemed of no threat and of no interest to them, so long as they stayed well out of the way.
Placing the furs down on the green, Arrluk trotted along a bend as he accessed a good placement for them. The amount of salmon, rushing upstream for the autumn season on their way back to the ocean, well, it was unlike any amount he had ever seen.

Ajei always found the spear's cliff face arduous to say the least. And it was truly hard on her paws. But she did like it. That was not a lie. IT just was not home. And though she had made her home there and tried, truly tried to find all it's hidden beauty and she had found quite a few. She had never really found the shear rocks lovely.
Ajei laugh, though it was muffled, and stretched her neck. Arrluk would easily outpace her with his longer legs. But this was not a race or anything of that nature. So she joined him in a free run. The grasses whipping past them. The softness under foot. The blur of colors as they ran. Oh it was magical and lovely and she adored it.
Ajei stared wide eyed at the fish as they jumped and spawned up stream. The red of their tails showing up bright in the clear cool spring.
Granted obviously fish were not the most intelligent creatures. At least not these ones. Hopping right into the waiting mouths of bears and wolves. But they would eat good tonight. She held up a paw to one as it jumped.

It is unbelievable. So many and so much danger, and yet. They continue on. I'm not sure if it's dedication or foolishness.

Arrluk look how big they are!

Foolish dedication. He said with that humble, small smile he often wore. And as he stood on the sidelines, he just watched them for a time, the great many of them. Both the young wolves completely enveloped in the spawning event.
Aya! You best watch out, little ember. Some might be big enough to eat you!He laughs, the killer whale boy now taking high steps into the shallows of the rushing creek bend.

A laugh high trilling. Delightful. Her green eyes sparking with mirth. Head thrown back in absolute happiness. She lifted her paws in place.
A squeal of mock outrage. And she splashed her killer whale wolf. Calling out with a laugh.

Then you better save me. I refuse to be eaten by a fish!

Don't you worry, I've got you!And he always would. He runs to her then through the shallows, splashing water all the while. His aim is to sweep a paw around her and allow them to tumble onto their sides along the riverbed. The bears might turn to them every so often, those wolves fools. Yet they didn't worry the wolves would scare away the fish, there were far too many and far to distracted with making it to the Sea.

Though most would fear a giant wolf coming their way. Ajei laughed harder. A squeal of both surprise and delight as a paw grasped her and they tumble rolled in the shallows.
She splashed a paw in the water making sure to douse him.
Them she merely lay for a minute breathing in the moment. Eyes closed a smile on her face.

Water rushed around his sides, not nearly deep enough to hinder him as he lay on his back for a time like Ajei. A toothy grin on his face as he looked to the sky above. The sound of the water flowing around them putting him at great ease.
After a time he would flip over onto his belly and stretch out his legs before lifting up and shaking out his coat.

Let's get us some lunch! They could eat until they couldn't move, he felt.

Did you want to fade here? I know that you are getting busy <3
Though it wasn't hindering for Arrluk. The strength of the river was a little bit of a lot for a smaller wolf of Ajei's stature. But she was able to withstand and enjoy the light and the river for a pocket of time. It was relaxing, and beautiful and her heart hammered hard against her ribs. She was ecstatic.
Okay! She called back and sprang into action. A smile on her face. And she took up a spot and stared at teh salmon delight. Leaning to catch her first one of many she hoped.
