The pups were now a week old. They were already much bigger. Valette knew it would be time soon to introduce them to Ezekiel at least. He was the father and he had a right to know them. However, Valette didn't want him to be clumsy or too rough with them. She peeked her head out of the den and let out a soft woof to summon him. Often he wasn't far away from her den anyhow. Valette felt a bit unsure if she did the right thing. Maybe she should have waited longer.

She decided that she would let Zeke see them first from the entrance but not allow him too close yet. Only when he showed enough tenderness she might allow him to fully enter her den. Her eyes were alert for any movements as she waited for him at the entrance of the den.
