Charles felt a little nervous to admit that he didn't know what prodigious meant. He knew his ears were freakishly large, larger than his brothers' and larger than anyone he had ever met, but he didn't chalk it up to anything but bad luck. Or bad genes, maybe, whatever those were; that's what he had heard aunt Indra say sometimes. Oh, he just said at that, because he didn't want to admit he didn't know the word's meaning. Maybe he would ask Kaito or Leta if they knew the word, later.

As she sped up again and told him to keep him, Charles dashed after her. Where are we going? he wondered while they ran, not really sure.. what.. was going on, and not really sure if he liked it, but somehow feeling pretty good that someone else took charge. He liked not having to think for himself for a moment.
