An uncontrollable shiver ran down Charles' spine as Nyra spun herself around his body, pressing herself up to him. He felt an involuntary reaction from his body, an excited swirl that raced from his chest to his stomach to his loins. What was going on? Charles felt really weird, because his body was turned on but his mind felt nothing for her. A part of him was afraid, even. He nervously licked his lips while his paws still refused to function and his tail was tucked between his hind legs.

Children? Some of the pieces of the puzzle became clearer to him then; the suffocating scent, the way his body responded, the way she pressed herself up to him... The coywolf had never even considered whether he wanted children. He had imagined what it might be like to have sex with a woman, although it wasn't a thing that really appealed to him. But he knew it was something that was expected of him, something that would be good for his reputation; something that he would be eventually expected to do.

The mix of involuntary excitement and fear made him tremble lightly as he looked at her. Not really. He didn't usually think about tomorrow, let alone the far future. What's it to you? He tried to sound confident and casual as he repeated the words he'd first said to her when they had met on the road to the Strath, but the last words came out in a high-pitched squeak that betrayed how nervous he was. Please go away, he thought to himself, because he knew there was no way that he could make her go away himself, since she was his leader and all.

He hoped that she wasn't really considering what she insinuated considering. He didn't want children, and he certainly didn't want to do anything sexual with her, despite his body thinking otherwise and confusing him thoroughly. Thing was, when it came down to it, would he even be brave enough to say no to her face, if that's what he decided?
