The woman - he was certain now that it was a woman of his own kind now - called to him as he drew nearer.

Glaukos was aware of his prowling, his watchful eye; he did not know what it was that drew him, though she appeared more knowledgeable. Her cry was desperate, needy; he wasn't sure if the order was genuine. It mattered little, as she was not of mereo and held no sway.

Closer, now. Circling. Intrigued by the bewitching quality of the woman, and the power he felt he had; she was small, weak, almost pleading with him with her eyes. Combined, this ignited something powerful inside the boy. No, he wouldn't leave her here - it seemed imperative that he stay.
