Fury was in the midst of trying to change her scent. Granted genetics likely had a lot to play in a Wolf's personal scent, Fury would try anyway to alter it as much as possible. 

That's when Alduin melted from the shadows, giving her a mischievous look with ruby red eyes before pouncing at her. She tipped her hocks down in time only for him to catch and tug her tail instead. 

Playful, was he? Fury still saw a faint glimmer of his puphood inside him, in some manner or another. 
She scoffed softly and whirled on him, aiming her teeth for his scruff and her massive paws for his shoulders in an effort to take him down.
