early that morning he'd put @Indra III onto the scent of a lame buck. it was too much for the two of them, so the name of the game was to wear it down first and call the others. 
at first the animal tried to feign health. it galloped before them and pranced, demonstrating its strength. but as the sunlight rose, the buck faltered once, then again.
he did not surge for it when the beast truly fell, but drew closer. the buck was able to rise again and half-ran, half-staggered into the shadows of a single oak.
