When the children were quiet, she slept, snatching every opportunity to rest while the five infants at her side allowed her to do so. Getting them all on one schedule was impossible- especially considering that among them was a child of an entirely different species. Whatever rest she got was often short-lived; just when the last to settle fell asleep, another would awaken and begin the domino effect of pushing, crawling, pooping, crying, nursing, pooping and crying some more.
