Right now, he wasn't thinking about his fledgling pack either.  This was a time of greed and selfishness and Mal had no desire to risk having to share Cupid.  The pack could wait for him to get back -- even if later he'd be kicking himself for not inviting him back to be in the pack.  Oh well.  He'd try to excuse himself on that by saying it was close enough to his home that he could be easily found... 

For now, though, Mal was content.  As Cupid replied and came closer, his tail beat against the snow, Good.  More.  He curled against Cupid, resting his head across his shoulders, savoring it all.
