Despite his exhaustion, sleep does not come as easily to Alarian; he spends many hours lost in his own mind, a slave to his thoughts as his lover sleeps beside him. He thinks about his life, about himself, about Midar and the future. The night seems to drag on, and by the time sleep finally claims him he feels more desolate than he's ever felt.
It seems only a blink, and suddenly he's rousing to the feeling of a soft tongue against his aching scruff. His eyes flutter open blearily, lips parting with a faint whine as he turns.
