Stone Circle Firstborn of the herd

Valette watched the herd from the Stone Circle. Her keen green eyes scanning eagerly at the herd, her suspicions had been right. The first bison calf had been born last night under the stars. The female stalked closer to inspect. With the first new born the herd would always get tense when she would get too close. Valette sniffed the air, the scent of the after birth had been gone though. The mother probably ate it.

The Matriarch went to lie down, her pelt not helping with the snow that was still lingering on the ground. Still, if she would sit still they might think of her as a rock. It was a good sign that their bison herd was growing and expanding, they needed it to grow and expand. Lately, Valette had wanted to preserve the bison exactly for this reason, not wanting to kill a mother when they might have a calf later by being patient.
