happens at the same time that the pack is meeting basilica!! Tags for reference

While @Augur and @Avicus led the rest of the pack to Basilica’s borders and the trail’s end, Ashlar lingered back to watch from the ridge.

He hadn’t spoken much on the trip over, just trailed behind with a quiet anxiety that worsened the closer they came to finding what Avicus sought. He wished he could find the words to make her see that this wouldn’t end it, might only make it worse, but he did not think she would listen. With another death, was it even true? Or was war just an inevitability?

This was the thought that had turned his stomach to ice.

He’d done what he could for @Masquerade as they traveled, and given some of the others herbs to help ward off whatever they had caught, but he didn’t like that they were here. A potential fight was no place for a sick wolf.

A potential fight was no place for a wolf at all. Not on someone else’s ground. I would have defended the Rise. He thought maybe that was true, though it was hard to imagine. From this he saw nothing to gain. Those who were dead were dead - they had been unable to save them at the time. They should try and save those left.

He watched and he listened, knowing that if things went wrong, he would be needed. They would call.
